Sudbury rock trio Good Effort prepare to unleash their high-energy new single, “State of Emergency,” on November 6.
Sudbury, Ontario’s female-fronted rock band Good Effort is gearing up to release its powerful new single, “State of Emergency,” on November 6, 2026. Combining driving guitars, high-energy instrumentation, and an undeniable sense of urgency, the upcoming track explores what happens when everything begins falling apart and the pressure becomes impossible to ignore.
Built around the idea of reaching a breaking point, Good Effort’s “State of Emergency” captures those moments when life feels impossible to control. Rather than surrendering to the chaos, the band delivers a message of resilience, encouraging listeners to confront their struggles and find the strength to keep moving forward.
Drawing inspiration from artists including No Doubt, The Police, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Sudbury trio blends classic rock influences with its own energetic approach to songwriting. With a growing catalogue of original music and a passion for live performances, Good Effort continues carving out its place in the Canadian rock scene.
Good Effort State of Emergency: A Powerful Anthem of Resilience
There’s a raw intensity behind Good Effort’s “State of Emergency” that reflects the emotional weight of its subject matter.
The song examines what happens when everything begins falling apart and the pressure becomes impossible to ignore. With its driving guitars and powerful rock sound, the track captures the urgency of having to make a choice: break under the pressure or fight your way through it.
The message is straightforward but powerful. Even when circumstances feel overwhelming, the only way forward is to keep moving.
For listeners who appreciate guitar-driven rock with emotional depth, “State of Emergency” offers a compelling introduction to Good Effort’s music.
From Garage Jam Sessions to Sudbury’s Rock Scene
Good Effort’s story began in the summer of 2020, when a series of casual garage jam sessions gradually developed into something more ambitious.
What started as weekly gatherings without any particular goal eventually became an opportunity to experiment with original music.
Band members Sabrina and Damiola had known each other since their time at Laurentian University around 2014, but it wasn’t until 2020 that they began pursuing music together.
As their songwriting developed and the band’s direction became clearer, Damiola reached out to former bandmate Tyler, completing the lineup.
Since then, Good Effort has continued writing, recording, and performing original music while developing a sound shaped by a diverse collection of influences.
Drawing inspiration from artists including No Doubt, The Police, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, the band brings together different musical backgrounds to create its own take on guitar-driven rock.
Good Effort Build Momentum Beyond Sudbury
While Good Effort’s roots remain firmly planted in Sudbury, the band’s music has steadily reached audiences beyond Northern Ontario.
The group has performed several times at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre, including an appearance at Her Northern Voice in August 2026, an event celebrating female-fronted bands.
Good Effort has also supported charitable initiatives through performances in downtown Sudbury, demonstrating a commitment to giving back to its local community.
Beyond live performances, the band has attracted attention from radio stations across Ontario, including Rock 95, 94.9 The Rock, Humber Radio, and Radio Waterloo.
Their music has also received local support from CBC Sudbury and CKLU 96.7 FM, while a television appearance on CHCH Morning Live in Hamilton introduced the group to another audience.
Good Effort’s reach has even extended internationally, with the band receiving attention and an interview from UK radio station Hive 92.7 FM.
These opportunities reflect the band’s continued efforts to connect with listeners while building its presence in the independent rock scene.
What’s Next for Good Effort?
From informal garage sessions to radio airplay and performances on established stages, Good Effort has continued growing through a shared passion for creating music.
With “State of Emergency,” Good Effort offers another example of its energetic approach to songwriting, combining classic rock influences with themes that resonate beyond the music itself.
As the Sudbury trio continues writing and performing, the band remains focused on sharing original music and connecting with audiences through its live shows.
