Good Effort spoke with us about their single, “Found”

Sudbury, ON-based female-fronted rock band Good Effort has recently unveiled their single, “Found.” This song takes you on a musical journey from feeling lost to feeling an overwhelming sense of purpose. It takes the listener lyrically and musically through a desert and into an oasis.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi everyone! Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We are Good Effort! An alternative rock band from the city of rock (quite literally), Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Our female-fronted band brings together a wide range of musical inspiration resulting in a futuristic blend of rock, alt, punk, and pop. Influences include No Doubt, Green Day, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and all the classic rockers you can handle.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

We are excited to share our latest release, “Found.”

“Found” was actually written about three years ago. It’s one of our favourite tracks and has kinda taken a life of its own. It starts off chill with a soothing bass line and works its way into an over-the-top outro. You will also notice that it has an instrumental chorus to contrast the singing in the verses. We see the song as a conversation. The verse and chorus are separate voices. An internal dialogue that we will let the listener interpret.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

Inspiration for writing comes where most writers get their inspiration – experience. It can be the most brutal of teachers or the most satisfying story to mull over again. Each one of us has our own unique experiences and has had events that shape our outlook and perspective where they can eventually redirect our decisions and behaviour moving forward. We enjoy dissecting those moments and embedding them into our music where everyone can have their own song to sing along too.

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

We have spent some time refining and recording our music over the last several months and are excited to share this new content. Live shows are definitely in the works as we prepare a set list with original music and cover songs. As the weather gets warmer and festival season quickly approaches, we are looking forward to sharing what we have been working on with you!

What’s your goal for 2023?

Our goal for 2023 is to continue writing new music, secure some live shows and meet people just like you! The opportunity to interact with new artists and fans is something we are truly looking forward to so we hope to see you out there.
