The Glorious Sons Headline Rock the County Once Again with a Sold-Out Show
Prince Edward County’s own Kojak — Donny Tait (vocals, guitar), Mitchell Cory (drums), Harry Tammel (bass), Ian Roantree (keys), and Claud Northey (guitar) — kicked off the night with their unique blend of rock, pop, and blues. Formed in 2018, the band has been in the studio with Jay Emmons of The Glorious Sons, recording a new album slated for release this fall. It was a natural choice to have them open the night.
The Glorious Sons took the stage to the familiar strains of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” — a fitting entrance for their “almost” hometown show. Following the band’s August 18th announcement that they had pulled out of their planned U.S. tour with Jet, along with the members’ various independent projects, it was great to see The Glorious Sons back together on stage.
Frontman Brett Emmons has been working on his solo project, John Shambles, while Jay Emmons, Steve Kirstein, Adam Paquette, Josh Hewson, and other members have been involved with Eddy and the Dirty Boys, making the sold-out Rock the County performance a welcome return for fans.
The Glorious Sons delivered a set packed with crowd favourites, including “Mama,” “S.O.S.,” “Everything Is Alright,” “Mercy Mercy,” and “Josie,” alongside new music. With the band currently focused on wrapping up their new album this fall, live performances are limited for the time being. Their next scheduled appearance is at Fest2Fall in Cambridge, Ontario, on September 26.
