Mike Repic Brings Hope Through Cinematic Alternative Rock and Honest Storytelling
First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi my name is Mike and I’m an alcoholic and a drug addict. Oh, and I play music.
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
A took a step into the 1980’s with this one. I traded in the guitar riffs for synths. I imagine an underground after hours club filled with goth ravers doing unspeakable things. I’m dipping my toes more and more into the pop world and it’s scratching an itch I didn’t know it had.
Walk us through your creative progress when creating music.
The music is all autobiographical. Living life as a junkie for years has kind of given me a never ending supply of material. It’s not something I’d recommend to anyone but coming out the other side has brought me this focus and clarity that I always tried to get from drugs. Turns out I needed to get clean to tap into it.
Now that the music is out, what does the ‘road ahead’ look like? Beyond tours and videos, what’s one ‘bucket list’ goal you hope to achieve with this release?
At this point it’s just about getting my name out there again. I was in a band called 40 Sons for about 10 years. We toured, made records, the whole thing. The whole idea of this project is a rebirth, starting something new that feels like me, where I’m at, in this moment.
Every artist has a ‘lightbulb moment’ where things just clicked. Looking back, what’s the one performance or milestone that made you realize, ‘Okay, this is what I was meant to do’?
I could trace that back to about 5 years old when I watched Michael Jackson perform. That was everything, that was it, that’s what I was going to be doing. Years on my tastes evolved but that feeling never went away.

My buddy Pete Maws just put out an album that’s got some great songs on it.

There’s nothing like the energy of a live room. Where can fans catch you on stage next, and for someone seeing you for the first time, what should they expect from your live experience?
I’m currently not playing live but hope to get a show together soon.
