River Town Saints Unveil Feel-Good Summer Anthem, “She Got That”

Canadian country band River Town Saints have unveiled their highly anticipated new single, “She Got That.” The vibrant summer jam perfectly encapsulates the essence of the season and marks their first release under their new recording deal with Sakamoto Music, distributed by Warner Music Canada.

Good songs happen when a bunch of summer lovin’ Ottawa Valley boys get together in Nashville with their buddy Jason Blaine. The outcome, “She Got That,” pays homage to a captivating girl who possesses that special allure, driving men to acts of foolishness.

“We can’t wait for you to hear the new music we’ve been working hard on this year, and to be able to release it with our new label Sakamoto Music!” says River Town Saints.

“We are overjoyed to welcome the talent of River Town Saints to the Sakamoto Music family,” says Joelle May, Director of Promotions & Artist Services at Sakamoto Music. “Their journey, marked by hard work and remarkable skills, is truly commendable. ‘She Got That’ showcases their irresistible music and reaffirms their undeniable talent.”

“The entire team at Sakamoto Agency have been so supportive to River Town Saints and we are thrilled to be expanding our relationship to include their label side, Sakamoto Music,” says Tina Simpkin, the band’s manager.

River Town Saints have much to celebrate in recent years, boasting an impressive 20 million audio streams and video views, a top 10 hit with their single “Bonfire,” CCMA Award nominations, CMAO and Canadian Radio Music Award wins, tours with Tim Hicks and Kip Moore and spots on the country’s biggest festivals.

But their story isn’t devoid of challenges and tragedy. Following the departure of their original singer in 2018, the band heartbreakingly lost their bassist and dear friend Daniel Di Giacomo at age 31. Understandably, many would have considered throwing in the towel, but though enduring more than most bands could bear, quitting was never an option for this resilient group.

Listen to “She Got That” below and learn more about River Town Saints via our mini-interview.

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey! We’re the River Town Saints! We’re a band (mostly) from the Ottawa Valley. We all grew up on rock & country so naturally, that’s the sound that’s made its way into our music. Chase sings, Chris and I (Jeremy) play guitar and sing while Joe plays bass…and sings too. We’ve been nominated for some CCMAs, won some CMAOs, had some top 10s & 20s, and played all over Canada for the last couple of years!

You have unveiled your new single, “She Got That.” Tell us a bit about the writing process behind the release.

We met up in Nashville with our good buddy and fellow Ottawa Valley native, Jason Blaine to write what we’d hoped would be a fun summer tune. Something simple, singable and memorable. As the song took shape, we realized that we were all fortunate to have these amazing women in our lives and decided to write about that intangible, indescribable way we feel whenever we’re with them. Some creative liberties in the storytelling aside – it turned out to be a really universal concept for anyone in a happy relationship. We recorded the song back in Ottawa with me (Jeremy) producing and mixing.

You worked with Jason Blaine on the release. How was that experience?

We’ve written several songs with Jason over the years (including “Long Time Coming” which went Top 40 on Canadian radio) and we’re always really excited about anything we write together. We’re all influenced by artists that have a rock edge and a pop sensibility – and who understand the need for a great hook. When you get a bunch of Valley lads together, we tend to write some fun tunes.

What’s your favourite thing about being a musician in Ottawa?

To be perfectly honest with you – we don’t end up being musicians IN Ottawa very much. Most of our shows tend to bring us to the GTA or various other parts of the country. Which is great because we LOVE seeing different parts of Canada. For the times that we are playing and rehearsing here, you realize that Ottawa is a really beautiful city. Maybe the best part is that when we fly to shows, we get to leave from the Ottawa Airport (so small and easy to get through) instead of trying to navigate Pearson all the time!

You have a series of festivals coming up through the summer. Describe your live performance using at least 3 words!

Fun, fun, and fun? We really pride ourselves on being able to reproduce our sound live – the harmonies, the big guitar solos, and the energy that we have in our songs. Most of all, we have a really great time on stage playing together and we do our absolute best to share that with every audience, whether it’s an arena or 10 people at a bonfire. When you have as good a time as we do, it tends to be contagious!
