Okay Camper unveils their debut single, “Garden Party”
Niagara, ON-based indie band Okay Camper is fronted by Grant Redman alongside Amanda Lyn Parker and Mark Hoerdt. Okay Camper blends melodic folk, alt-country, and indie rock music with pop-oriented hooks.
The trio has unveiled their debut single, “Garden Party.”
“Garden Party isn’t about a real party I attended, but it is an honest song about my social anxiety. It’s a battle a lot of people fight when trying to be social and out in public. We decided to record and release this song as our first single because it’s the song most people say they could relate to after hearing us play it live at one of our shows.”

Review
“Garden Party” is a mellow and introspective indie rock track that showcases the band’s songwriting, vocal harmonies, and production.
The instrumentation at the beginning of the release consists of a soft, subdued beat, which is used as the backdrop for the vocals. Throughout the song, the music expands to showcase the level of the band’s talent and melds together perfectly with Grant’s vocals, and the vocal harmonies put forth.
The introspective lyrics “At a backyard garden party, I didn’t wanna to stay too long, Said I was so happy to be there, But I wasn’t glad at all” will easily resonate with many listeners, with themes of social anxiety, and anxiety in general.
Overall, “Garden Party” is the perfect introduction to the new-to-the-scene indie rock band, Okay Camper, and is a standout indie rock track that tackles the difficult subject of anxiety with honesty and emotion.
