Montreal-via-Saint John, NB’s Fireball Kid (Colin Ratchford) has unveiled his debut album, Gas Station.

The eleven-song release features the single, “Asking You Out,” which has garnered over 10K streams on Spotify, and the focus track, “Bummed Out.”

The album begins with “Asking You Out,”  a pop anthem that we previously reviewed. This is definitely the perfect track to begin the release, as it does a great track pulling the listener in, and leaves them wanting more from the artist.

Ratchford shares on “Asking You Out,”

“With that song, I was putting words to a feeling that I’ve dove into time and time again: the sheer glee you experience right when you’ve decided to make a bad decision on purpose. Seeing every dumb idea past, present, and future spread out before my eyes, I have no choice but to laugh. I think there’s joy in knowing you’re picking a rockier path but that there might be love somewhere down that path.”

The new song, “Bummed Out,” comes later in the release and shares the same intensity as “Asking You Out.” It takes listeners on an exciting musical journey with pulsating beats and ethereal melodies, pushing the limits of modern pop. Notably, the track stands out for its experimental approach, as Fireball Kid fearlessly ventures into new musical territories, incorporating unique sounds and surprising elements.

Overall, Gas Station is a testament to Fireball Kid’s artistic vision and his ability to create a truly unique and captivating album. It is a must-listen for fans of genre-bending music that offers both familiarity and innovation.
