From Music Industry Exec To Classical Composer: Ron Lopata Announces Debut Classical EP, Sketches for Piano

Award-winning musician, producer, and music industry executive Ron Lopata has announced the release of his debut classical EP, Sketches for Piano, coming June 23 through Andante Piano/Disruptive Records. The album is a stunning collection of original piano compositions that takes listeners on a musical journey through a composer’s emotions, expressed through the piano keys. Showcasing his music versatility and artistry on the captivating Sketches for Piano, Lopata returns to his roots, as a graduate of the Royal Conservatory with an ARCT performance degree in Classical.

The first single from the EP, “Luminescent,” has already amassed over 250,000 streams on digital streaming services since its release on March 24. The second song, “Snowfall,” was released last month, and now Lopata releases the third track, “Moonrise.”

“When I sit at the piano, I feel like we are one. The music flows out of my body, through my fingers, and onto the keys. It’s rather spiritual in a way. I’ve been playing piano since I was 5 years old. It’s not cerebral anymore, it’s far beyond that,” says Lopata.

As a keyboardist in the revered soul and R&B group Jacksoul, Lopata contributed to three JUNO Award wins. Becoming one of Canada’s most well-known acts for over a decade, the group toured across North America, opening for the likes of James Brown and Al Green. Through his work writing, composing, and producing for a wide range of artists including Scott Helman, Brett Kissel, Lindi Ortega, Jully Black, and Tomi Swick, Lopata has been part of songs amassing over 200 million streams, countless radio hits, and seven platinum and gold singles.

“I’ve spent the last couple decades focusing on other artists’ visions and dreams, helping bring their music to life,” Lopata says. “I couldn’t ignore my own calling and inner voice anymore. It’s time to let it free, to capture what I’m hearing and feeling, and share it.”

Sketches for Piano marks a new chapter in Lopata’s career, as he fulfills his own lifelong dream of creating classical music.
