Good day, afternoon, or whenever you happen to be reading this post. Welcome one at all to Zach’s Picks Of The Week here on Canadian Beats Media. The place where I share some articles from last week that got posted on our website. I will share five Canadian artists and one bonus International article featured in our Canadian Beats Passport. The link to each of these recommendations can be found below. I will also feature a short clip from each of them in this video coming up soon. So please be sure to share the music with your friends and family and without further ado, let’s get it right into the tunes!!
Five
Starting us off right will be Toronto-based band, Lowest of the Low returning to Zach’s Picks Of The Week. With another one from their sixth studio album Welcome to the Plunderdome, it’s “Brave New World” and its brand new music video is in our article. Plus, there’s also a brand new Five Questions With segment with Lowest of the Low that you should read up on here.
Four
Next, we have another of many Five Questions With segments that we have on this week’s list. This one is going to feature folk punk artist Greg Rekus & The Inside Job with what promises to be his best work yet. The new record, Sinners Go to Church Saints Go to Jail can be streamed now across all streaming platforms and you can find it in the article here.
Three
This next spot is reserved for our first country singer-songwriter on the list. Introducing from Nova Scotia, it’s Jessica Russell and her latest single “Pause On Over”. It follows her debut single “Here We Go” and now both of them are available on all streaming platforms. We can expect Jessica‘s debut album this year after she hits the studio to record. But already she’s had quite the musical career, opening up for many incredible Canadian artists. You can learn more in our Five Questions With segment we conducted with Jessica Russell, here.
Two
Now it’s time for this week’s runner-up for the top spot, the master musician and songwriter, Michael Kaeshammer joined us, this time with his brand new record. His 15th studio album, Turn It Up is available across all streaming platforms thanks to his new label, Seven. One Starwatch/Sony Music Germany. This eclectic yet accessible jazz-based pop album features eight original songs and a dynamic cover of one of Queen’s classics. Showcased in Michael’s signature style, blending a range of keyboards with an ensemble of different trumpets. You can listen to all of the songs on your favourite streaming platforms or within our 5-question interview, here.
BONUS: Canadian Beats Passport
Looks like it’s time for us to introduce our international artist who was featured on Canadian Beats Passport. Formed by former members of Bullet for My Valentine, Throw the Fight, Still Remains, and Threat Signal, Kill The Lights is a force to be reckoned with. Their debut album, Death Melodies, unleashed a torrent of raw energy upon the metal community in 2024. Of course, that means you can go stream the whole album for yourself, plus it’s our Five Questions With segment, here.
One
You have now reached my final pick of the week and I’m so excited to share them with you. From zero to ANTI-HEROES, it sure looks like VIOLET NIGHT, is quickly becoming the new torchbearers of Toronto’s alternative music scene. Their latest offering, “FERRARI RED” currently resides in the top 40 on alternative radio cheats. Plus a brand new video accompanied the release and you can see it here and now. You can check out the video within our Five Questions With segment, that I conducted with their frontman Connor Pohl right through here.
I hope these recommendations were to your liking because they are, as always, my personal favorites. So you are more than welcome to go explore our website and narrow down your top picks instead. There is so much content being posted on our website, that you’ll have plenty of stuff to look at. However, I hope you have an incredible week coming up full of good vibes and stellar music. I will do my best to bring you the best new music next week. But until the next time our paths cross, spread that positivity in the world. I have been your host Zach Coopz and as always, PEACE, LOVE, AND GOOD MUSIC EVERYONE!!
