ZACH’S PICKS OF THE WEEK – DECEMBER 11 TO DECEMBER 16, 2023

Zach Coopz Returns With His Picks Of The Week

Looks like we have discovered, Six incredible recommendations that were unearthed by yours truly. This will be Zach’s Picks Of The Week and you have tuned in for the best music around. At least in my opinion but that’s up for debate I guess. Canadian Beats is the place that posts new music all the time. That’s why all of these articles are featured right here on our site. You will be able to check out each of these articles, just below in this post. But you will also get a clip in a video from each of my recommendations. The video will be just below us, so have a listen to my picks of the week coming up on our hundredth episode!

Five

Let’s begin our list with a very special recommendation who was born in Montreal but now calls Toronto home. Please welcome, queer pop artist Jennarie to Zach’s Picks Of The Week with her explosive debut single, “My Body Treats Me Better.” This funky, upbeat, body-positive anthem is available now everywhere music is available.  Jennarie continues to make waves and build a strong name for herself throughout the Toronto music scene. Please be sure to go and check out our article where you can hear the new single, “My Body Treats Me Better” here.

Four

Moving along down our list of Zach’s Picks Of The Week will bring us to Vancouver-based indie pop artist, Heidi Vincent who has recently unveiled her new single, “Dear ADHD.” A song that Heidi wrote about people, like herself who struggle with ADHD. Quoted from our article, “I want to tell everyone who is diagnosed with ADHD/ADD we are ok and we’re not alone.” Please be sure to listen to Heidi Vincent’s new single through the link to our single review right here.

Three

Next up on the list of incredible new music is going to be a Toronto Indie rock band that is returning to Zach’s Picks Of The Week. Vicky von Vicky are back with “Goodbye My Love,” their third release of 2023. It’s available now across all streaming sites and acts as an ode to this lover already on the way out the door. Their nostalgic blend of classic rock and late 20th-century-pop creates a unique and irresistible modern rock track. You can check out the brand new music video, which is linked in our article just right through here.

Two

This will be my second top spot of the week and will bring us to the planes of Calgary Alberta. This time it’s going to be hardcore punk band, CITIZEN RAGE, and their newly unleashed full-length album, HARSH REALITY. Available on all streaming sites, and draws influences from other bands like DRI, Madball, and Good Riddance. But with this record, CITIZEN RAGE hopes to carry on spreading their message of positive social change through more tours and more recordings. So be sure to go check out our Five Questions With segment with the band as well as listen to their new album here.

BONUS: Canadian Beats Passport

It’s time for our Canadian Beats Passport bonus recommendation featured on Zach’s Picks of the Week. So this time we will be getting into the holiday season with Los Angeles-based R&B/Pop/Soul sensation, K-Victoria. Her latest single, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” is available everywhere now and is here in time for the holidays. It takes you to a place of peace with its soulful words that K-Victoria works hard to keep her place at the music industry table. Please do yourself a favour and go and check out this amazing holiday track in our Canadian Beats Passport article for the incredible K-Victoria here.

One

This week’s final choice will be a very special one, all the way from Niagara Falls, Ontario. Zach’s number one recommendation is multi-media performance artist THUNDERCLAP and his latest single, “Blank State,” which is available now and inspired Thunderclap’s new documentary. It was filmed in the early months of 2023 and shows the growing homeless situation in not only the Niagara Region but all across Canada. The new video for “Blank Slate” features clips from the upcoming documentary (to be released in February 2024). Check out the full article for Thunderclap’s new single “Blank Slate” here.
