Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
We are a group of college kids who started experimenting with electronic beats and indie style vocals while combining them with alternative guitar licks in the creative process to eventually find what has become the unique Group Project sound that we know today. Jacob on vocals is 21 studying business at McGill University. Jeremy; elite producer and pianist, is 22 studying business at Concordia University and Alex on guitar is 19 studying business at John Abbott College.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
We started writing songs that would appeal to audiences similar to our own age group. Getting down to the nitty-gritty specifics of young love, college parties, and rebellion. We really try to drift away from writing cheesy stuff, in other words, we want to maintain a unique style to our music and we like to think our lyrics are a huge part of our small success so far because they have helped us reach the audience we have today. We just want people to relate to us and have our memorable lyrics stuck in their heads.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
We have a show coming up on September 14th in our home city of Montreal, we are extremely excited about it. You can definitely expect a mix of rock and roll and electronic sound that will certainly set the atmosphere, also on the menu is a lighter ambiance that will be showcased by our ballads. We just want to replicate a big campfire sing-along kind of vibe in a big showroom setting.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Priest. It is definitely a fan favorite. It has also reached over 1 Million streams on Spotify !!!! THANK YOU !!
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
Shawn Mendes has been killing the game lately. Jacob has also had his eye on The Glorious Sons lately, a Canadian Rock band from Kingston.
