Nova Scotia-based artist Jont explores love, emotional withdrawal, and acceptance on his intimate new single, “Feel So Much.”

Nova Scotia-based singer-songwriter Jont returns with “Feel So Much,” an intimate new single exploring emotional withdrawal, vulnerability, and the challenges of staying connected in a relationship. Blending reflective alternative songwriting with an unexpectedly uplifting undercurrent, the track captures the complicated emotions of recognizing someone you love beginning to pull away.

The song emerged during a fragile moment in Jont’s relationship, shortly after returning from a dream trip to New York with his then-partner. After navigating a difficult journey back to one another, he felt hopeful about their future together. However, soon after returning home, he began sensing familiar patterns of avoidance resurfacing.

Following a phone conversation, Jont closed his eyes and tried to imagine what his partner might be experiencing. Within five minutes, the initial lyrics to “Feel So Much” appeared without an instrument in sight. Only afterward did he pick up his guitar, with the music falling almost fully formed around the words.

“I wrote the song as a way of trying to help my partner see what was going on,” Jont explains. “I sent it to her as a voice note, with guitar and vocals, 30 minutes after we had talked and she was kind of shocked. The picture I’d drawn of her was pretty bang on. It was drawn in love. I was completely committed to our relationship.”

Jont Feel So Much – Finding Acceptance Through Music

Although the relationship ultimately ended, “Feel So Much” avoids turning heartbreak into an accusation. Instead, Jont explores how trauma can influence our ability to remain present with difficult emotions and how withdrawing emotionally can become a form of self-protection.

Once in the studio, Jont added a bridge written after the breakup. Imagining his former partner eventually hearing the finished song, he wanted to offer consolation rather than bitterness, an instinct that also helped steer the music away from becoming overly downbeat.

“I find it hard to write downbeat songs,” he says. “My natural urge is always resurgence. I can’t stay down for long. Here I wanted to sing to my ex after our break up, and despite how things ended, I wanted to offer her some consolation.”

That sense of resilience runs throughout the track, balancing its emotional subject matter with a melody that refuses to remain weighed down by sadness.

“The song came through so naturally and so quickly, it was like a sketch on an envelope inspired by how I knew a certain person,” Jont continues. “There’s an intriguing jauntiness to the song itself that kind of says ‘fuck it,’ surrenders to what is, accepts its fate.”

What began as a song written for one person ultimately captures something broader about accepting what cannot be changed. Although the relationship did not unfold as Jont had hoped, time brought its own resolution, and he and his former partner are now friends.

With “Feel So Much,” Jont transforms a deeply personal experience into a reflection on love, emotional honesty, and the possibility of finding peace after heartbreak.
