Isabella Chiarini Unleashes An Anthem of Empowerment and Breaking Free, “Gotta Be”
Get ready to embrace your independence with Isabella Chiarini’s latest single, “Gotta Be,” a bold and honest pop track that strikes a chord for anyone who’s ever felt trapped in a toxic relationship dynamic. This empowering anthem channels Chiarini’s signature ability to transform personal experiences into universally relatable music ensuring listeners can see their own stories in her lyrics.
“Gotta Be” is a call to action for those stuck in relationships that drain instead of sustain. Isabella writes about a familiar yet often unspoken theme: the manipulative partner who claims to be helping while doing the exact opposite.
“I hope people understand they don’t need someone else to be happy,” Chiarini shares. “Staying in a situation that doesn’t fulfill you will never be the solution. It’s okay to do what’s right for you—because, in the end, that’s what will make you happiest.”
With a passion for blending pop with various subgenres, Isabella creates a sound that’s both fresh and unmistakably hers. Backed by co-writers like the renowned Teresa Nocita, “Gotta Be” perfectly encapsulates Isabella’s mission: authenticity, empowerment, and connection.
Chiarini’s journey into music began at just eight years old, taking lessons with Teresa Nocita and later joining the Nashville-based development company PCG Universal, where she honed her craft through songwriting and stage performance classes. Inspired by her hardworking father, who raised her solo after her mother passed away, Isabella’s music carries a depth of emotion and resilience that resonates deeply with her audience, especially young adults navigating life’s pressures.
Isabella describes “Gotta Be” as a declaration of self-worth and freedom:
“Life throws challenges at us, but music is my outlet to turn those experiences into something uplifting—for my audience and for myself.”
What have you been up to since we last spoke?
Since we last spoke my main goal was gigging, especially over the summer. I always prioritize creating and studio time over the winter months then getting out and playing live as much as possible in the summer months. I’m also in Music Business classes and I teach music which I love.
Gotta Be” is such a powerful anthem of empowerment. Can you tell us about the personal experiences that inspired you to write this song?
The inspiration for this song came from a toxic relationship dynamic. Someone who is coming in and out of your life, and every time they come back they say they are trying to help you and make your life better when they are just making it worse. Something I feel most have been through and can relate to.
What was the creative process like for “Gotta Be”? How did you collaborate with Teresa Nocita?
When I go into my songwriting sessions with Teresa the first question she always asks me is how are you feeling? What’s been happening? Because it’s easier to pull on real emotion when writing. We always start writing from there, after we write we send the song to my producer Paul Gigliotti who puts the vision together.
Your music blends pop with various subgenres. How would you describe your unique sound, and how has it evolved over time?
I always like to switch things up while still staying under the pop umbrella! For this song in particular I took a lot of inspiration from popular artists like The Weeknd, Chappel Roan, and Dua Lipa to give it more of a disco/80s flare. I feel as I’ve grown up and evolved so has my music taste, so the evolution has been quite natural.
What role has your early training and work with PCG Universal played in shaping you as an artist today?
PCG Universal was a great program, and I was grateful to be a part of it while growing up. It was through them that I started really diving into songwriting, production, and performance which helped a lot with my confidence. They gave me tools that have shaped me into the artist I am today.
You’ve cited your father’s resilience as an inspiration for your music. How has his influence shaped your perspective and artistry?
My father inspires me to keep pushing and pursuing. Even in times of doubt or when I lack self-confidence, he’s always there to help me push through and believe in myself again. He helps me with my career so much and he is a big reason why I am here today. From clothing advice, image consulting, or telling me I need to step up my game, he is always there to tell me the truth and help me!
What’s your go-to empowerment anthem (besides “Gotta Be”) when you need a boost of confidence?
When I am feeling down I always turn to some upbeat music! One of my recent favourites has been God is a Woman by Ariana Grande! I love blasting it and singing along in my car, it always boosts my mood!
What do you enjoy doing outside of music that inspires or recharges you creatively?
In the past year, I have gotten into fitness and health a lot. I go to the gym every morning and during that time is when I usually start listening to new music, or podcasts that get my creative juices flowing! It’s a time when I can clear my mind and recharge!
What can we expect next from you? Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations you’re excited about?
I plan on getting in the studio this winter to work on music for the Spring and Fall. I have been working with “The Singers Company” and collaborating a lot with them on social media!
Last but not least, can fans expect to see you live anytime soon?
A live performance video of this song “Gotta Be” will air on CHCH morning live on Jan 24th for their “New Music Friday” segment.
