Legendary rockers AC/DC made their return to Edmonton after 11 years, along with The Pretty Reckless.
If you’ve even seen How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), you are already familiar with Taylor Momsen, just in a different means. The child actor has developed into a badass rocker chick as she has fronted The Pretty Reckless since 2009.
She’s a high energy sensation, oozing with equal parts sultry, sexy, and unhinged thrasher. Constantly roaming the stage, whipping her hair around, dancing, engaging the crowd – Momsen is a natural, with the attitude to back it up.
Effortlessly weaving her way through a 10-song set, her and her band were tight, and a great fit for the stadium stage. Nobody else moved around much, so it definitely felt like this band is all about her.
I’m not super familiar with their music aside from “Make me wanna Die”, but I enjoyed their set, and would love to see them again in a smaller venue!
AC/DC needs no introduction.. formed in 1973, AC/DC has become synonymous with Rock n Roll. Pioneers in the genre, and the embodiment of the opulence that is the Rock n Roll lifestyle, everything this band does is huge. Their stage featured a catwalk, giant bell, walls of guitar amps, and a massive lighting rig. Near the end of the show they brought out giant cannons, and finished “For Those About To Rock” with a massive fireworks show.
21 songs nearing two hours, AC/DC’s set featured all the hits and then some! Considering the age of these fellas, they are still on top of the game. The band sounded great, singer Brian Johnson was fantastic, yet some spots towards the end were a little iffy – but I’m not gonna fault a guy nearing 80 years who’s still out there doing it, and doing it well. The crowd ate it up, and I had a fantastic time.
