Gillian Hay Announces Toronto Show on April 26 Following Magnolia Baby Release on April 12
Toronto-based artist Gillian Hay unveils her brand-new single, “Reminders of You”. The single is featured on her upcoming debut album, Magnolia Baby, set to release on April 12th. If you’re already vibing with the lead track, “Apartment,” you’re bound to adore the beautiful simplicity of this one!
Feel the heartbreak while she sings, “I went back to the bar where we had our first dance – Like the universe gave me a second chance.” “Songbird” by Fleetwood Mac and “For a Dancer” by Jackson Browne were big inspirations for this one.
“I love Songbird and how you can hear the room in that song as Christine McVie sings from her heart and plays the piano so beautifully.”
Fans of Kacey Musgraves, Lucinda Williams, or Phoebe Bridgers are sure to dig this new release. In support of the new album, she has announced her Toronto show at The Painted Lady on April 26th. Tickets are available here.
“I wrote this song from the perspective of someone who has lost a loved one. It’s about that period after the loss where you realize there are reminders of them everywhere, and there always will be. It’s that feeling that things will never be the same again, the world looks so different, and you’re observing everyone going on with their lives, but you are suspended in time without that person because time revolved around them in your world,” shares Gillian. “You just have to go through the motions and be patient as the heartbreak eases and the waters start to clear, and the flowers slowly bloom again. I dove into those gut-wrenching-heartbreaking feelings and imagined I was someone who had lost the love of my life forever while tapping into my own experiences to create Reminders of You.”
