Ben Chase’s album, That Was Then, This Is Now Captures His Journey From PEI to Alberta & Nashville

Canadian country music artist Ben Chase is celebrating his debut album, That Was Then, This Is Now, which is currently available on all digital streaming platforms.

In speaking about the album, Chase says,

“This project has been in the works for a while, but I had to put it on hold during the pandemic. I ended up completing it in Nashville, where I decided to include the early songs that kicked things off for me, while also balancing it out with lots of new material. Taken together, this album represents the ‘Then’ and ‘Now’ chapters of my career.”

A native of Prince Edward Island, Chase moved to the plains of Alberta for four years, where he was a 2019 finalist in the Project WILD Country Artist Development competition and won the Fans’ Choice at the 2020 Country Music Alberta Awards. Since 2021, Chase has made Nashville his new full-time home.

The ambitious 20-song album covers the spectrum of Chase’s experiences during these stops. It includes all 12 of the artist’s previous singles, as well as 8 new tracks, including “Met Too Young” featuring fellow Canadian country artist Mariya Stokes.

To date, Chase’s musical output has earned 2 million streams across Spotify, Amazon, and Apple Music, and a pair of #1 Canadian Country iTunes charting songs. This past April, Chase was the face of Apple Music Canada’s “Canada’s Country” playlist, hot off his first two 2023 singles, “Call Me Drunk” and “Fading”. His follow-up single, “Small Town Talking”, made him the face of Amazon Music Canada’s “North of Nashville” playlist, while its video was featured by CMT.com and added by CMT Australia. Most recently, “Saltwater Cowboy” was added to Spotify’s North Country playlist and SiriusXM Top of the Country in Canada, and Chase was again the face of Apple Music Canada’s “Canada Country” playlist.

For his efforts, Chase has enjoyed award nominations from Country Music Alberta, Music PEI, YYC Music, and the East Coast Music Awards while establishing himself as a crowd-pleasing talent at the Calgary Stampede, the Cavendish Beach Music Festival, Big Valley Jamboree in Canada and venues like The Listening Room, Whiskey Jam, and The Bluebird Café in Nashville.

Chase is supporting the album with a series of live shows, including shows in Fredericton (October 6th), on Prince Edward Island (October 7th), and in Calgary (October 14th).
