OSHEAGA Interview with Camille Guitton
OSHEAGA, aka Montreal’s best festival, starts in just over a week! With an incredible lineup boasting headliners Rüfüs du Sol, Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar, we couldn’t help but be curious about what goes on behind the scenes! We had the pleasure to chat with Camille Guitton, Senior Manager of Booking, Concerts and Events at evenko to find out more!
For our readers who might not know you, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
In 2014, I came from France, full of ambition and motivation, for an internship in the OSHEAGA booking team. Since then, I have honed my skills booking artists for the OSHEAGA music festival, as well as hundreds of shows in Montreal and in the province of Quebec year-round providing a sharp ear for French, European and African artists. Since 2022, I also book the festival Francos de Montreal.
Can you talk us through the booking process for this edition of Osheaga? How early does it start, and were there any unexpected challenges along the way?
We are already working on the 2024 edition! To book the bigger artists, we need at the very least 1 year. Most of the work takes place September-December, which is a very busy time for us. Biggest challenges are budget (with our CAD $$) and not enough slots for everybody! Selection process is tough but very exciting at the same time.
What acts are you most excited to see hit the Osheaga stage?
Fred Again.., Rema, Bomba Estereo, Foals, Major League Djz, Goth Babe, Lil Yachty,… It’s really hard to pick just a few!
We love to give Canadian artists a spotlight on our platform, are there any up-and-coming Canadian acts that our readers attending the festival should go check out?
- Preston Pablo for sure!! New Canadian gem
- ToBi – Amazing flow, great RnB act
- Pelada – Electronic act to discover, have a singular identity, sings in Spanish
- Alicia Moffet – Our Quebec favorite, future pop star
