UK electro-rock band Metronomy played at the Danforth Music Hall on Saturday night on a second of back-to-back Canadian concerts, the first one taking place in Montreal the night before. Supporting Metronomy on this tour would be the Canadian synth-pop group Desire which is a fitting matchup based on their music type.

The dream-pop duo Desire would kick off the show and get the crowd dancing early on. Desire, which consists of Canadian vocalist Megan Louise and producer Johnny Jewel is known widely by fans for her song “Under Your Spell,” which served as the musical centerpiece for the 2011 cult classic film ‘Drive’ which starred Ryan Gossling. Some people don’t know that Johnny Jewel originally wrote the score for the film “Drive” and is responsible for the movie’s retro-synth, 1980s-sounding undertones and aesthetic. Desire is touring with Metronomy to promote their latest album titled “Escape,” so the audience would get to hear a steady mix of new and old tracks and even a few surprise cover songs from some of their musical influencers, the likes of New Order and Kylie Minogue.

Fans would rejoice when Metronomy promptly hit the stage at the historic Danforth Music Hall in Toronto for the main event of the evening. The electronic, pop-rock band from England is currently touring for their latest project titled “Small World.” The group has done a lot of touring over the past year and a half, playing shows across Europe and South America. They even played at the Glastonbury festival last summer before finally making their way here to Canada. Metronomy would go on to play a long set of 17 songs, including all the classics the fans wanted, before coming out for a three-song encore to conclude the show.

The North American tour has a few more dates in the USA scheduled in May, but no more Canadian shows are scheduled at this time. Enjoy the photo gallery below from the concert on May 6th in Toronto.
