Last night, Alt Pop sensation Yves Tumor mesmerized Montreal’s MTelus!
The evening started with American duo Frost Children. Their hyper-pop style was almost overwhelming, but perfectly balanced with minimal visuals, the silhouettes of Angel and Lulu leaving it all on the stage. Their performance had chaotic vibes reminding us of 100 Gecs, and the crowd was here for it.
Up next, Pretty Sick took over the stage with an alt-rock set. Lead singer Sabrina Fuentes drew the crowd in with her Courtney Love-like vibes, delivering a solid performance that had fans watch her every move and sing every lyrics.
Finally, after 9.30pm, the stage filled with haze and bright red lights as Yves Tumor emerged to a thunder of applause. Clad in leather and studs from head-to-toe, the singer didn’t have to say a word to set the mood for their performance. Kicking things into high gear with the intoxicating God is a Circle, followed by fan-favorite Echolalia, Yves and band delivered a solid set at the intersection of classic rock, metal à la Nine Inch Nails, with dots of glam disco à la Prince. Yves Tumor is hard to put into a specific genre, and that made the beauty of their show. The crowd was taken on a psychedelic journey accompanied by bright strobes and clouds of haze, and they seemed to love every minute of it, all the way to final song Kerosene!
Yves Tumor will be playing in Toronto tomorrow, and in Vancouver on May 18th. Last night felt like watching one of the world’s next biggest stars on the rise, so you don’t want to miss this show! For ticket and more info, check out their website.
