The place where you get to enjoy my five favourite articles and or posts from our site. There are many more to explore on our pages, so head there after you enjoy this week’s choices. I have featured clips from them in this video posted below. So please watch them here but also the links to all of them can be found in this article. So keep reading or listening to your new favourite of the Week here on Zach’s Picks Of The Week!
Five
Let’s begin with the Saskatoon-based multi-talented showman Dylan Jules Cooper. No relation to me, as far as I know. He’s unveiled his newest album, which is entitled, Rockulism, which was released in late 2022. So you can find it online wherever you like to stream your favourite new music. Dylan’s music consists of classic rock screams and soulful crooning while maintaining humility in the lyrics he writes. But his performances are personal expressions to all attending. The shared feeling in the room during each performance is one in which Cooper laughs at the absurdity of it all. But you can listen to the new album, Rockulism when you check out our Five Questions with Dylan Jules Cooper here.
Four
My next pick will be the Canadian indie rock band Mount Silver from Newfoundland. They have recently released their new single, “Dragonfly,” to all streaming platforms and everywhere you listen to music. It’s a chill indie-rock song that matches the beauty of the winter season, so be sure to enjoy yourself. The band takes pride in where they have come from, inspired by many east coast musicians that have come before them. However, their upcoming goal for 2023 is to better the music and experiment further from where Mount Silver’s current releases stand. You can listen to the latest single when you check out our Four Questions With segment featuring Mount Silver here.
Three
Now it’s time for my third top spot of the week, which brings us to Toronto-based multi-genre singer-songwriter Ariel Sim. Her latest single is a Lofi hip-hop and jazz tune called “I LOVE YOU,” which was produced with help from Ljazz Beats. This incredible single is available on all streaming platforms you’re listening to your favourite music and brings excitement to the chill vibes in everybody’s playlist. It’s also a great dance track for lovers of jazz rap. But as an artist, Ariel Sim also embodies the qualities of love and care in her performances by sharing intimate moments with her audiences before, during, and after her shows. Listen to Ariel’s latest single, “I LOVE YOU,” when you check out the article here.
Two
Next up in the top picks of the week on my list will be the heavy rock trio HIGHFRONT from Pembroke/Ottawa, Ontario. They are pleased to announce they have released their sludge groove rock song, “Racing Past Regret,” to all the major streaming platforms, including Bandcamp. If that wasn’t exciting enough, a brand new video accompanies its release. HIGHFRONT’s music is rooted in a heavy hard rock sound, and the three members of the band bring a wide range of influences that have helped them develop their sound. If you want to hear or check out the new video, go to our Five Questions With With segment with HIGHFRONT here.
One
Now it’s time for my top recommendation and article of the week from our website, Canadian Beats. That will be from Calgary-based alternative artist Malcolm, who’s back with his first single of 2023. His latest single brings a catchy melody and addictive hook to the song “Closure,” which is available on all streaming sites. This song brings listeners into the new year with a relatable story about young love and how it doesn’t always end the way we want it to. The single is the first coming from his upcoming EP, I Think I’m Okay. If you want to listen to this incredibly catchy song, you can check it out in the same article where we have a Five Questions With segment with Malcolm here.
Those will be in my recommendations from Canadian Beats! Be sure to explore the rest of our website for plenty more articles that weren’t featured this week but are worth checking out. That will also be everything for me this week, so I will see you here next Monday. Have a fantastic week out there, and there’s always PEACE, LOVE, AND GOOD MUSIC, EVERYONE!!
