From 200K streams to nationwide radio—Keven Daken is shifting into high gear.
Nova Scotia–born country artist Keven Daken has spent the last two decades building a career defined by strong songwriting, emotional delivery, and a deep connection with his audience. From his early days in Halifax bands to becoming an internationally recognized singer-songwriter, his path has been one of steady growth and momentum.
As a songwriter, Daken has had his work recorded by artists including John Landry, Jamie Warren, Colin Amey, Tonya Kennedy, Derek James Tilley, and Jolene Harnish. His first professional cut, “Bottom of the Ninth,” became the title track of Landry’s sophomore album, while his co-write “Getaway” with Colin Amey broke into the Canadian Top 25.
His solo career continues to gain traction. “Living Inside of Lonely” reached the Top 10 on the Canadian Indie Country Countdown and earned a Nova Scotia Music Week nomination, while “Country Soon” hit #1 on the same chart in 2025. Across platforms, his music is nearing one million total streams and views.
Now, his latest single “Brand New Truck” is marking a major milestone. After its initial release on March 4, 2026, the track has already surpassed 200,000 streams on Spotify and is now being pushed to radio stations nationwide, expanding its reach beyond streaming platforms and into rotation across the country. The early response signals growing momentum for Daken as he continues to break into a wider audience.
Beyond his music, Daken is also the founder of Country Cares, a rapidly growing charity event that brings together artists from across the Maritimes to support meaningful causes, including Single Snowflake – Myasthenia Gravis.
With a new EP on the way—produced alongside multi-CCMA and JUNO Award–winning producer Jason Barry—Daken is entering his next phase with confidence. If “Brand New Truck” is any indication, his reach is only getting bigger.
Review
“Brand New Truck” delivers a catchy, radio-ready country track built on clever storytelling and a fun twist. Instead of the usual love song ending in a ring, Daken flips expectations with a chorus centered around a dream truck—complete with chrome wheels, lift kit, and booming speakers.
The song stands out through its mix of classic and modern country influences, with nods to Merle and Waylon alongside relatable, present-day details. As the story moves from relationship to family life, the concept stays consistent, making the hook hit stronger each time.
Lighthearted but grounded in real-life moments, “Brand New Truck” balances humor and heart, landing as an easy singalong and a natural fit for country radio.
