Lil América shares her debut album, Courage Music Healing
Building off of the energy of her lead single “Express Entry,” Salvadoran/Canadian singer-songwriter Lil América is ready to release her debut album, Courage Music Healing—a personal mix and reflection of the past and looks forward to the future, touching on how important music is to Lil América’s life.
In songs like “El lado bueno,” “Let Go,” “Dormite Ninita,” and more, Lil América’s powerful and refined voice tells us her story as a woman, immigrant, mother, and worker. She may have grown up in the tropical paradise of El Salvador, but her lyrics are a poignant look at the immigrant experience.
Courage Music Healing is a powerful album that started as a way to release and reflect on trauma and ended with inspiration and gratitude.
“The album was made during a time that I was off due to stress and the pandemic,” she says. “I passed through a very bad depression and the songs helped me heal.”
With each song on Courage Music Healing, you will come to know more about the complex social contexts in which Lil América has lived while her lyrics are amalgamated with the nostalgic Indigenous and tropical sounds of her beloved America.
“The album should be received with joy and happiness but also with understanding and connecting to your sad or low days. I want it to be a free ticket to the whole American continent.”
