It’s becoming more & more important for people from all walks of life to come together to spread joy and St. Albert, Alberta’s Josh Beauchamp is playing an exciting part in that as a member of Now United. Read on for more on how he became involved in the “supergroup” of sorts and where he hopes to go from here!
For those who don’t know, you represent Canada in Now United; an 18 member pop-group with each member representing a different country! How did this opportunity come about for you?
I was in the car with my mom on the way to one of my dance competitions. I went to look at my emails, as I do like once a year haha. I came across an email from XIX Entertainment & Simon Fuller asking me to come to LA to audition for this new project called Now United. And the rest is history.
The new Now United single, “Jump”, has so many incredible elements to it from the variety of vocals to the epic melody & beats. What was your favourite part of recording the single?
One of my favorite parts of recording Jump was being able to collab with R3Hab. He’s such an amazing artist and producer, and working with him was just unreal!
With so many members to coordinate with in the “Jump” music video, what did the rehearsal processes look like? Who choreographed and how long did it take to film, from start to finish?
It’s definitely challenging fitting 18 talented artists into one song/music video, but our team always finds a way to do it! Our choreographer Kyle Hanagami is a genius and was able to teach us everything and have the whole music video staged with only a few rehearsals. We filmed the whole thing in two back-to-back 12 hour night shoots in Portugal.
You started out as a dancer in your youth, but do you remember what or who may have sparked your interest in singing?
From the very beginning, I wanted to be an all-rounded performer but never really understood a way I could do it coming from such a small town in Canada. So when this opportunity with Now United came I took full advantage of training in all other aspects of performance which I lacked in.
What are your current goals for yourself as well as the group as a whole?
My current goals are to continue improving upon my own talents and for Now United to continue breaking down boundaries and growing!
