Last night, several thousand Montrealers made their way to MTelus for the sold-out stop of Tove Lo‘s Sunshine Kitty Tour. The evening started with an opening set by Finnish singer Alma, whose powerful vocals, incredible energy and neon green hair reminded us of Billie Eilish, as she jumped around the stage getting everyone ready for the main act.
Between the two sets, the crew installed installed a big chair covered in black tarp front and center of the stage, addressing some of the whispered concerns in the audience, as Tove Lo broke her ankle during a show in Brooklyn three nights ago. Shortly after 9pm, the Swedish singer emerged on crutches and with a bedazzled walking boot, heading straight to her red velvet throne. “The show must go on”, and it sure did! Having to sit down did not prevent Tove Lo from giving an incredible set, as she wowed the crowd with stunning stage visuals and danced on her chair in ways no one knew was possible. Things got steamy during her hits “Talking Body”, “Habits” and “Bikini Porn”, closing the night after definitely giving fans a run for their money!
