Countdown to Pouzza Fest 2019 – Interview with Gutter Demons

Montreal’s Pouzza Fest takes place from May 17-19 featuring some of the greatest punk music that’s out there! We’re happy that we’ve had the chance to count down to this festival with you. We started our countdown with Montreal’s own The Planet SmashersAnswers, HVAL, and then Subb. Today, we’re chatting with Gutter Demons, who play on May 19 at Bear Garden (Outdoor Site). See the full schedule here.

First off, care to introduce yourself to the Canadian Beats readers?

Hi everyone this is Flipper, Upright Bass player for the Gutter Demons.

Pouzza Fest is an early festival, taking place in May, how do you prepare for festival season?

We don’t really care which season it is, this band has been hell & back and played in any kind of conditions. We always make a point to make the best show ever every night no matter if it’s a festival or a Wednesday night in front of 8 persons in Sioux Falls.

Have you taken part in Pouzza Fest before? If so, what is your favourite memory?

It’s actually our first time at Pouzza! Pretty stoked to finally do it.

The line-up at Pouzza Fest this year is stellar, who are you most excited to check out?

Yes, it is a good one. Well definitely Andrew WK and our good buddies Kman & the 45’s

Pouzza Fest’s name comes from the mashup of poutine and pizza, so I feel the need to know, which do you prefer?

Poutine or pizza… It’s not even a possible question… POUTINE!

Are you performing at any other festivals this summer that you’d like to tell us about?

Absolutely, we have a few good ones coming!!! July 5th, we play the biggest Psychobilly festival near Barcelona called the Psychobilly meeting. For me it’s a favorite, i get to play with a lot bands that got me in that style and genre of Music. July 26th we are honored to play for the first Montreal 77. Aug 9th we are very proud to be part of this DIY festival called Grind your Mind an hour away from Mtl.

What five words would you use to describe your live show?

Dangerous – Addictive – Passionate – Intense – Furious

If you were asked to give advice to an up and coming artist, what would that advice be?

Never give up, always give it all and if you think you worked hard enough go out there again!

What’s up next for you?

Well, we continue to promote our 5th album No Gods No Ghost No Saints on Stomp records. I already mentioned the festivals but we have a bunch of shows after Pouzza. Look it up. A maritime mini tour late May and lot more. Late August we go again full throttle across the U.S, Canada, and Europe and come back home mid- December… We keep busy.
