Calgary, AB-based 15-year-old rising pop artist, Kaiya Gamble has unveiled her new single, “Sweet Talker”.
About the track, Kaiya shares,
“At the beginning of “Sweet Talker,” the other person has all the power. They broke your heart, never loved you and that hurts, a lot. By the end, there’s a self realization that you are the person in charge. You’re better off without the toxicity and you weren’t to blame. This song is a goodbye to the toxic people in and around your life, and a hello to the power you hold within yourself! While the song tells the story of heartbreak, it’s also about healing and taking back control of your happiness.”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Of course! Hi everyone, my name is Kaiya Gamble, I’m a soulful pop singer-songwriter from Calgary, Alberta! I’ve been passionate about performing, songwriting and singing since I was 9 years old when my music teacher told my parents that I had perfect pitch. My goal with my music now is that everyone feels like they aren’t alone in what they’re feeling, and it’s ok to recognize the deepest parts of who we are. I love tea, dogs, and most importantly connecting with an audience 🙂
Tell us a bit about your new release “Sweet Talker”.
Gladly! “Sweet Talker” is a song about getting your heart broken by someone who’s lied to you. However, in the end, you realize even though they’re blaming you, it’s not your fault, and you are in control. I obviously can’t pick favourites of my songs but I love that “Sweet Talker” is such a bop production-wise, and I was on cloud 9 the day I wrote it. I was at my cabin and remember thinking “this is so much fun, but so angry at the same time. I love it.”
When it comes to the global pandemic, how are you keeping yourself out in the public eye while not being able to perform?
It’s been a challenge for sure because right before the pandemic I was performing a ton. Despite that the pandemic sort of forced me to start doing social media and since then my Instagram following has grown tremendously to over 40,000 people which is insane! I just started TikTok about a month ago so that’s been interesting haha! I’ve also really found a way to jive with online / zoom performances! What kept me busy for a year was my free online benefit concert ‘Kaiya Live’ that I put on in November of 2021 on YouTube! It was inspired by my “pandemic parents” who are frontline workers, to help spread some positivity and love to everyone who’s been affected by the pandemic (as no one was spared) while also raising awareness for some amazing organizations as well. The concert is still on YouTube if you want to watch it. We had a full band and production team so it was a really cool experience although it was weird singing to a camera and no audience. I’ve been able to volunteer in Randwick Children’s Hospital in Sydney, Australia through zoom! They put me on an iPad and take me around to different patients and the iPad goes right at their bedside and I perform. It’s been incredibly therapeutic. The thing I’ve been most grateful to the pandemic for is that I started releasing music to digital streaming platforms. That has been a completely different way for people to find my music.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so if you were able to work with ONE fellow Canadian artist, alive or dead, who would you choose?
Oh my gosh, what a cool question! I’ve actually never been asked this before! There are so many amazing artists that have come from Canada who I’d love to work with. If I had to pick one…. it would be Alessia Cara. She was a big reason I decided to start pursuing music. I fell in love with her music because of her intricate melodies, honest lyrics, and the fact that she’s so genuine! So to work with her would be an absolute dream.
What’s your goal for 2022?
My goal is to release my first EP, do more on TikTok lol, keep writing more songs, and perform live again as much as I can!
