Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Katelyn Biehn has released her new single, “Daydreamin'”.
Similar to the rest of the Stratford, Ontario-based singer’s discography, the two-minute, 55 second-spanning comeback single is a beautiful blend of the pop and R&B genres. The guitar and bass-driven instrumentals are complimented by Katelyn’s smooth delivery, perfect pitch, and mellow demeanor.
“You know that moment when you see a total stranger and in your mind you imagine walking up to them confidently and introducing yourself and then the ‘rest is history?’ ‘Daydreamin’’ is that idea played out in someone’s mind,” Katelyn says, of her latest creation. “Who doesn’t love a romantic love at first sight story? A first love that lasts the rest of their lives.”
On how she came up with the arrangement, Katelyn said:
“I started out with a fun beat just sitting around in my living room, I began making up a story with my friends and then ‘Daydreamin’’ was born.”
To help support the promotion of “Daydreamin’”, Katelyn enlisted producer Roy Hamilton to master the song and create a lyric video for its official release. It features shots of some of the world’s biggest and most popular cities, including London, Los Angeles, New York City, and Seattle. There’s even an abundance of beautiful skyline and overhead shots of Toronto — which is just shy of two hours west of Katelyn’s very own hometown.

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Katelyn Biehn. I am 21 and I have been pursuing music seriously since I was 17. I have recorded in Nashville and Toronto. I play guitar, drums, sing, and I love creating beats with logic pro. I began playing drums when I was 4. I come from a family with 6 brothers. I love travelling (pre covid), and have been to 3 different continents so far. I plan to visit them all. Hopefully playing music along the way.
Tell us about the recording process behind ” Daydreamin”?
Daydreamin’ is one of those songs that tells a story. I was imagining that crazy feeling when your mind imagines your whole life in a split moment. I started on acoustic guitar then developed the beat in logic pro and tried to take the listener on a journey from just meeting a person all the way to the rest of their lives together.
What was the highlight of 2020?
When all the busyness was stripped away I was able to write music, focus on vocal training, and getting physically fit. My music highlight was starting to work with Mama Jan, and seeing my vocals get stronger.
What do you hope to accomplish in your career in 2021?
I hope to get my music out to people across the globe. The world really is a network of people and I want to reach as many as possible this year.
Is there anyone out there you’d like to collaborate with in the future?
I would love to collab with Justin Bieber. I love his melodies, his vocal range, and the fact that we come from the same city and church. His music is really catchy. I would love to work with Chandler Moore and Brandon Lake as well. They are both so genuine and real and I would love to be part of what they are doing.
