Canadian artist, Chris Corey was raised in a small city in Northern Ontario, and now spends his time between Ontario and Western Canada. He has released his newest single, “Wildfire”, which is a lush blend of 80’s-inspired synth hooks mixed with punchy guitars and sweeping melodies. The single will be on his upcoming album, to be released in early 2020.
Chris shares on the upcoming album,
“This album is really a mixed bag of everything. I really tried to pull from a variety of influences on the newer tunes, I didn’t want to hold back thinking something wasn’t possible.”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi, I’m Chris Corey and I’m a singer/musician currently living in Vancouver working on a new album of material. I recently released some new songs and a music video this summer and look forward to launching the rest of my songs at the end of 2019.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
I draw my inspiration from a diverse range of musical styles that include rock, pop, new wave, folk, blues & country. I tend to be open to writing in different styles to strengthen my songwriting chops and to keep things new and fresh.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
I plan on playing shows and doing a small tour in 2020. My live performance can range from high energy rock songs and catchy acoustic numbers to synth-pop tunes that are both danceable and unique. Overall I’d say my stage persona is pretty easygoing and dedicated to preserving the integrity of the song.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
That’s a tough one as my songs are all a little different but a good one to start with would be my new single Wildfire.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
I like a lot of classic Canadian bands from the 70s/80s, but in terms of more contemporary bands and artists, I’d probably say Carly Rae Jepsen, Dear Rouge, Serena Ryder, Courage My Love, Glorious Sons & Rachel Beck are some I’ve been listening to lately.
