Who: Peter Frampton, Pottery, Courtney Barnett
Where: Salle Wilfrid Pelletier and MTelus, Montreal QC
When: July 5th 2019
Yesterday was the 10th day of the Montreal International Jazz Festival, with only two nights left to go! We started our evening at Salle Wilfrid Pelletier, to say goodbye to legendary guitarist Peter Frampton, who brought his Farewell Tour to the festival. As one would expect, Frampton’s performance was explosive, to the rhythm of incredible guitar solos, and songs that by now need no introduction! Everyone walked out of the venue feeling grateful that they did not miss this last opportunity to witness such a genius on stage.
Next, we headed over to MTelus, where Montreal skyrocketing band Pottery came onstage. Attributing a single genre to this band would feel like putting the wrong label on them, as their performance went through sounds of psych, krautrock, nervy beats and borderline garage punk. Every single member of the band was overflowing with energy, which helped the crowd get hyped for the next performer!
Finally, Australian rock powerhouse Courtney Barnett started her set, under a thunder of applause from the audience. It didn’t take long for Courtney to show that she is a true guitar hero, as she hopped around the stage in a very moody light that perfectly matched her deep lyrics and grunge sounds.
