▶️ 01. Chloe Sofia — “Girl on the Internet”
Pop / Pop-Rock | Toronto, ON
Chloe Sofia turns an uncomfortable reality of being a young woman online into something loud, direct, and unapologetic on “Girl on the Internet.” Written after receiving an unsolicited explicit photo and facing criticism over how she dressed and presented herself online, the track pushes back against the idea that women should have to shrink themselves because of someone else’s behaviour. Co-written with producer Kayla Diamond, it wraps that message in driving pop-rock energy and a chorus made for shouting back.

▶️ 02. Allegories — “Pure Comedy”
Experimental / Dream Pop / Indie Rock | Hamilton, ON
Hamilton duo Allegories move between optimism and pessimism, intimacy and aggression on “Pure Comedy,” a restless new single from their upcoming album, By Accident, On Purpose, arriving October 16. Adam Bentley and Jordan Mitchell let the track shift through dream pop, indie rock, and electronic textures, with pieces from earlier versions of the song surviving as it evolved throughout the album’s years-long creation.
Why it’s on repeat: Its unpredictable blend of sounds and moods.

▶️ 03. Greg Carroll — “Writing on the Wall”
Country | St. George’s, NL
Indigenous singer-songwriter and musician Greg Carroll brings some serious ’90s country energy to “Writing on the Wall.” The title track from his recent album was built to be danceable, drawing inspiration from the driving country sound of the era while showcasing the experience Carroll has gained through decades of performing, touring, and collaborating across the Canadian music scene.
Why it’s on repeat: That toe-tapping ’90s country feel.

▶️ 04. Dead II Society — “Dead and Buried”
Outlaw Punk / Skate Punk | Northern Ontario
Northern Ontario’s Dead II Society make their introduction with “Dead and Buried,” a debut single that hits hard without losing sight of the story behind it. Written by vocalist/guitarist Buzz after watching a close friend navigate the death of her father and the anger surrounding what followed, the track channels grief, frustration, pain, and love into a relentless dose of outlaw and skate punk.
Why it’s on repeat: Raw emotion delivered at full volume.

▶️ 05. Les Shirley — Hail Mary
Punk Rock / Rock | Montreal, QC
After taking their music from Montreal to stages across Canada and Europe, Les Shirley charge into their third full-length album, Hail Mary, louder, bolder, and with plenty on their minds. The 12-track record arrives today alongside the official video for its title track, delivering another blast of the energetic punk-rock sound the trio has built its reputation on.

Singer-Songwriter | Calgary, AB
Calgary-based Cree-Métis singer-songwriter Sandra Sutter turns toward remembrance on her new single, “River of the Past.” Released today ahead of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the song was inspired by the children who never made it home from residential schools, bringing an important story of memory and reflection into this week’s Friday on Repeat.
Why it’s on repeat: A powerful song of remembrance.

▶️ 07. Tegan and Sara feat. Lights & Felix Cartal — “Our Year”
Pop / Indie Pop | Canada
Tegan and Sara return with their first new music since 2022 on “Our Year,” teaming up with fellow Canadians Lights and Felix Cartal for an all-Canadian collaboration. Inspired partly by their complicated relationship with Vancouver and the realities of building a life there, the song balances the frustration of watching another year slip away with the stubborn optimism that maybe this really will be the one where everything clicks.
Why we’re listening: A long-awaited return with a stacked Canadian collaboration.
▶️ 08. NOBRO — “Girls Like Us”
Garage Rock / Punk | Montreal, QC
Montreal’s NOBRO bring the attitude on “Girls Like Us,” another fierce shot of garage-rock energy from the JUNO-winning band. The track grew out of an encounter with a patronizing guy at a bar, giving NOBRO exactly the kind of fuel they know how to turn into something loud, defiant, and fun.
Why we’re listening: NOBRO turning frustration into a garage-rock blast.
