Aaron Goodvin Shares “Country Dance” Lyric Video With Step-By-Step Line Dancing Instructions
Aaron Goodvin has once again found himself with a line dance hit on his hands, this time with his latest single “Country Dance.”
While “Country Dance” continues to rise at country radio, the song has become the soundtrack to a line dance being taught across the globe, with country fans showing off their moves in videos posted to social media from as far as South Korea! Over the weekend at the CCMA Awards held in Hamilton, Ontario, a surprise flash mob broke out at the opening reception.
Today, Goodvin premieres the lyric video for “Country Dance,” with a twist. Included along with the lyrics are the line dance moves, so country fans can both sing and dance along.
Goodvin is the first to admit that even though this is his second song to become a line dance hit (following his smash hit “Lonely Drum“), he cannot dance (take a look at that CCMAs video above and keep your eye at the top of the screen as he attempts to join in). Goodvin’s wholehearted embrace of the void of grace from his foot movement was, in fact, the inspiration for “Country Dance,” which he co-wrote with Catt Gravitt and Skip Black, the same creative force behind “Lonely Drum.”
“Often I would imagine how cool it would be to have a sort of sequel to “Lonely Drum,” and every time I would write with Catt and Skip, that thought lurked in the back of my mind,” says Goodvin. “‘Country Dance’ began to emerge while joking around about the fact that I can’t even do the ‘Lonely Drum’ line dance, one of the most popular line dances out there. One of my favorite things about writing this song was we didn’t even figure out what the title would be until we got to the end of the chorus.”
Goodvin has been performing headline shows and at festivals across North America all summer long, with fall Canadian dates on the horizon. Visit www.aarongoodvin.com for a full list of upcoming dates.
