Six Nations Music Luminary Jace Martin Unveils Heartfelt “My Last Breath” as Lead Single from Upcoming Beautiful Broken Pieces Album
Award-winning Six Nations musician Jace Martin releases highly anticipated lead single “My Last Breath” from his new album Beautiful Broken Pieces.
Esteemed and celebrated Six Nations artist Jace Martin returns with the pop-rock ballad “My Last Breath” from his new album Beautiful Broken Pieces which blends acoustic-driven melodies with Martin’s uplifting vocals that build to an exhale of his own little piece of heaven.
Beautiful Broken Pieces, Martin’s fifth studio album, is a testament to his artistic evolution and resilience. The album is a collaborative effort with co-writer and co-producer Justin Abedin, who previously collaborated with Martin on the Billboard-charting hit “Free to Fly” in 2017.
This album, inspired by the late music icon Chris Cornell, delves deep into Martin’s emotions and resulted in his most honest and vulnerable work to date. Beautiful Broken Pieces is built on a foundation of inspiration, hope, and vulnerability with Martin encouraging listeners to speak up, fostering healing and hope through his music.
Another standout track from the album, “Honour Song,” was written as a tribute to residential school children and tackles a somber subject with a message of unity, healing, and forgiveness. Incorporating deeply personal experiences, including his journey through divorce, the album’s tracklist resonates with themes of finding beauty amid life’s chaos. The lead single “My Last Breath” offers a glimpse into the album’s introspective exploration, captivating audiences with its soul-stirring melody and heartfelt lyrics.
Beyond his musical accomplishments, Martin is the President of The Darren Ross Agency, a prominent record label and artist booking agency located on Six Nations, ON. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Martin has garnered a reputation as an award-winning artist, songwriter, producer, and event manager. His agency represents several JUNO Award winners such as Crystal Shawanda and Derek Miller.
Martin’s extensive career is marked by milestones such as Billboard chart-topping radio hits, national TV appearances, and unforgettable performances for millions during the 2015 Pan Am Games. His influence extends beyond the stage, as he is the star of “The Harv N Jace Show” on Bell TV.
As the world eagerly awaits the release of Beautiful Broken Pieces, Martin continues to shape the music landscape with his unique artistry, genuine storytelling, and unwavering commitment to inspiring audiences worldwide.

Care to introduce yourself?
My name is Jace Martin. I am based out of Toronto, my 2nd home but grew up on Six Nations, ON. I moved to Toronto at a young age to be mentored by Canada’s Queen of Jazz Salome Bey and performed in her theatre production called Rainboworld which launched the careers of Deborah Cox, Sate, Orin Isaacs, and more. I am an award-winning artist who has shared the stage with many of my heroes including Robbie Robertson, Jonny Lang, Sam Moore, and Jeff Healey. I have hit the USA Billboard Top 40 and have been featured on CBC, Global TV, Much Music, Showcase, and more. I got to perform at Ritchie Valens NAMA Hall of Fame Induction and sang vocals on a song used at the closing ceremonies of The 2015 PanAm Games.
Tell us about the process of writing and recording “My Last Breath.”
This album was a year and a half in the making. I used a very different approach than all of my past albums. I was inspired by Chris Cornell for the first single “Open Doors” and used that as a blueprint for the rest of the album. I worked with Justin Abedin, formerly of Jacksoul to help me co-write and produce the new album. We worked on writing the songs together and did a lot of pre-production to get the songs right. I feel like this is the best work I have done and is the most vulnerable and real work I have done to date. It was awesome to challenge myself to be as creative as I have ever been with lyrics, tempo, arrangement, vocal phrasing, and delivery. I am very proud and excited to release the new music. One of the songs I wrote is called “Honour Song” which is dedicated to the Residential School children. This is why I choose to release the album Sep 30 2023 on Truth & Reconciliation Day.
What’s it like being a musician in Six Nations?
It is an honour to be from and represent Six Nations as we have a great legacy of musicians who come from our community including Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Robbie Robertson and JUNO Winning Rock Icon Derek Miller. It has always inspired me to follow in those footsteps but also the others who have come like A Tribe Called Red & DJ SHUB. We have come from a long line of storytellers. So it’s the history and legacy that inspires me for sure.
Who was the first and most recent Canadian artist to blow you away?
I would say the first Canadian artist was Justin Bieber. I met him when he was 13 at his going away party in Stratford, ON before he signed with Usher. His talent was undeniable. He played drums, piano, and guitar and sang for us that night and was genuinely the nicest person ever. I am still friends and stay in touch with his mom Pattie. The most recent is hands down Drake. He is a monster and it’s crazy how many hits he keeps putting out. I am excited about his new album. These two are two of the best in the world & in history not just in Canada.
You’ve been making music for a while now, What’s one piece of advice you can offer to those starting out?
My Favourite piece of advice has always been ” Your talent will make room for you, but your character will keep you there”. It is so important how you treat people. I have seen so many young artists start out with so much potential to never hear about them again. Be a good, humble & kind person and treat everyone with respect. It will define your legacy & help you make the biggest impact.
