Breakthrough Artist Sofia Camara Releases Bouncy New Single, “Different” Produced By Juno Award-Winning Duo, Banx & Ranx
One of the most exciting Canadian artists to watch right now, Sofia Camara has officially released her new single “Different” via Universal Music Canada/21 Entertainment, written with Sara Diamond and produced by Juno Award-winning duo Banx & Ranx. The reggae-tinged track is the latest from the breakthrough Toronto-based artist, combining Sofia’s powerful, crystal-clear vocals with Banx & Ranx’s signature island-inspired production. This marks the second collaboration between Sofia and Banx & Ranx, following last year’s “Never Be Yours”, which peaked at #19 at Canadian Top 40 Radio, #22 on the Hot AC chart, and #34 on the Main AC chart.
The singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist unpacks her feelings about a breakup in the new song, working through heartbreak after leaving a relationship yet still wishing to remain friends.
“The day I left, it broke me,” she sings at the beginning of the song. “I wish you knew how much I loved you and still cared, but if you want to walk away, can I keep the memories? Is it too late for me to say, can we just stay friends?” She concludes in the chorus, “Please let me love you different.”
“When I was writing ‘Different’, it was hard for me to channel the way I felt at first because I was in a relationship that I didn’t want to fully accept was falling apart right in front of me,” says Sofia about the new song. “This was a friend – not only a partner but a friend – that I would potentially be losing in the end. When I chose to leave, I was really holding on to the hope that we’d be able to stay friends and love each other but love each other differently, but some things aren’t always meant to be.”
“Different” is the third song to release from Sofia Camara this year, arriving after the emotional ballad “Something Better” and the acoustic version of “Never Be Yours”. The undeniable bounce of this record highlights Sofia’s versatility as an artist, effortlessly transitioning between belting out tear-jerking ballads and making audiences dance with bouncy, lively tracks like this one.
