Mouraine shares new single, “Tonight,” from the upcoming album
Canadian hip-hop trailblazer, Mouraine shares “Tonight,” the second single from his forthcoming album, In Search of Gold. In soft strums, resonant 808s, and poetic verses, Mouraine tells the honest story of his humble beginnings and the roots of his mission as an artist. The track was produced by Rayannah Kroeker & deadmen and features background vocals by Begonia and a special excerpt of Mouraine’s immigrant story, as told by his mother during a heartfelt call from the studio.
“My humble beginnings trying to adjust and fit in a new country as a refugee reaching a place where I no longer had to worry about my safety and basic survival needs, but now I had to face new struggles,” Mouraine adds. “It’s hard to dream big when the system is set up to limit you to a stereotype. Being in a dilemma of feeling grateful but still hungry for more.”
In addition, Mouraine shares an incredible visual highlighting his recent performances at JUNOFest last week, soundtracked by “Tonight.” The piece showcases his hustle, come-up, and the community surrounding and supporting him. Watch the video for “Tonight” here.
As In Search Of Gold nears its release on May 5 via Birthday Cake Records, “Tonight” follows Mouraine’s shiny first single, “Gold.”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Mouraine. I’m a Hip Hop artist based in Edmonton. My family and I migrated to Canada in 2005 from Sudan. And the easiest way for me to adjust to this society was through sports and music. I started making music and quickly realized I love performing and making people feel good. I understood that it was my calling.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
I recently released a song called “Tonight.” The song digs a little bit deeper into my story, and I get to share things I’m not usually very comfortable with because a lot of it was attached to negative thoughts and experiences. But these are the sacrifices I have to make as an artist that wants to influence people for the better through my music.
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
The majority of my inspiration comes from personal experiences. From my family, friends, and so on. I love traveling and experiencing new places, and meeting people. Those types of experiences shape me to be a better human being and an artist.
Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?
Yes, I’ll be playing at Focus Wales (Wrexham) from May 4-6 and The Great Escape (Brighton) from May 11-13, with a London headline date on May 7 at the Notting Hill Arts Club.
What’s your goal for 2023?
My goal for 2023 is to perform and get in front of as many people as possible, and the same goes for my music.
