From Snowstorm to Spotlight: Alemeda’s Defiant Night in Toronto

Hometown Momentum: Seago Steps From Fan to Opener at TD Music Hall

Toronto-based indie/hip hop/pop artist Seago was delighted to learn that Alameda would be performing in the city and purchased a ticket for the show, unaware that he would end up being the supporting act. The emerging artist gained attention with his 2023 single Cheapshot and has continued to evolve as a musician, releasing new tracks as recently as February 20, 2026 – Greenlight, a collaboration with Sherwyn and See You Next Year. As an opener, Seago delivered a measured, self-possessed set. There was less spectacle than substance, but that restraint worked in his favour.

Still, the evening ultimately belonged to Alemeda

Los Angeles-based artist Alemeda spent her formative years between Ethiopia and Arizona. She informed concert-goers that she has an allergy to the cold, which presented challenges due to the snowstorm and sub-zero temperatures she had to overcome to make it to her Toronto show at TD Music Hall. Nevertheless, she delivered a flawless high-energy performance.

As the show progressed Alemeda shared that she would like to normalize discussing “mommy issues,” referencing the challenges she faced growing up in a strict religious household before continuing her set. She provided a truly interactive experience, taking requests from the crowd and reaching out to connect with fans directly.

She performed a full set, including Don’t Call Me Again and Beat a B!tch Up, a song for Doechii, noting that they were signed around the same time. She concluded the show with Why Do You Only Love Me When I Leave, a poignant choice to conclude the evening.
