Berlyn unveils new single, “Delete You From My Phone”
Hailing from Slave Lake and now based in Eckville, Alberta, BERLYN (Berlyn Broadhead) is a proud cowgirl with a voice as bold as her roots. A Country Music Alberta “Youth Horizon Award” winner and 2024 “Diamonds in the Rough” standout, Berlyn’s brand of country is gritty, heartfelt, and unapologetically real — just like the red dirt roads she grew up on.
Fresh off the June 30th release of her latest single, “Delete You From My Phone” — a modern-meets-classic breakup anthem for anyone who’s ever wrestled with letting go — Berlyn is proving she’s not just one to watch, but one to remember. From the stages of Big Valley Jamboree and Country Thunder to opening slots for country heavyweights like Joe Nichols and Gord Bamford, she’s carved out her place with tireless grit and a whole lot of heart.
First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello! I’m Berlyn Broadhead, a proud cowgirl from Slave Lake, now living in Eckville, Alberta. I’m honoured to have won the Country Music Alberta Youth Horizon Award. Growing up surrounded by roaring engines and galloping hooves, I found my voice in classic country and developed a sound that’s authentic and deeply connected to my redneck roots. I’ve been fortunate to perform at some amazing events like Big Valley Jamboree, Country Thunder, Calgary Stampede, CFR, and PBR Canada, and I’ve opened for incredible artists including Joe Nichols, Gord Bamford, Kim Mitchell, Steven Lee Olsen, and Drake Milligan. In 2024, I was named a Diamonds in the Rough winner and nominated for a Nashville Josie Music Award. I also completed the 2025 Canadian Music Incubator Program, where I sharpened my skills in performance, songwriting, and the business side of music.
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
My latest single, Delete You From My Phone, came out July 30, 2025. I co-wrote it with Elias Edlund and Richard Cloke. It’s a breakup song about letting go of someone you can’t trust yourself to hold onto, starting with the littlest move of deleting their contact. It’s got that mix of modern relatability with still keeping the classic country sound that I love.
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?
When I write songs, I usually start with a title, something that grabs me, maybe from a conversation or a thought while I’m on the farm or driving. From there, I build the story and melody, drawing from real feelings and moments I’ve lived.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
Right now, I’m hitting the road hard with shows across Alberta and beyond. I love sharing my music live and connecting with fans both onstage and online. I’m also working on acoustic versions, behind-the-scenes content, and a lyric video, plus there’s more new music coming soon.
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
One of my biggest career highlights was opening for Joe Nichols in Bonnyville. Growing up listening to him, it was a surreal moment I’ll never forget. Winning the Country Music Alberta “Youth Horizon Award” was also a huge confidence boost and really showed me I’m on the right path.
Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward. What upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?
If you’re looking for someone new to check out, I’d recommend Emily Ann Roberts. She’s got a classic country sound, powerful vocals, and really beautiful songwriting. I really admire her work.
