Well, it’s been a minute! Welcome to my first show review of the new year. Touring his new album, Chasing The Sun, iconic Canadian blues-rocker Colin James visited the Jube in Edmonton on Feb 27.
Kickin’ off the evening was solo-fock-rock artist Terra Lightfoot, who brought a blend of powerful vocals and electric guitar riffs that kinda shocked me a bit.. It was a mix I wasn’t expecting but thoroughly enjoyed. She even pulled some “stank face” out of me when she downtuned her guitar and busted out some seriously crunchy riffs.
Next up, the Juno Award-winning Colin James soulfully tore his way through an energetic set spanning his entire career, including several cuts from his new album, even bringing up Terra to perform on “Protection” (I believe). Belting out the classics such as 5 Long Years, Voodoo Thing, Chicks n’ Cars, I Just Came Back, and many more. The setlist was a 20-song powerhouse showcasing his incredible and timeless talent, as well as that of his backing band, featuring a piano player and a brass section.
