First off, care to introduce yourself?
My name is Andy Du Rego Singer/Songwriter of Black Suit Devil. A Folk, Rock, Soul, Grunge, and everything in-between project based out of the Toronto area. BSD has been going strong since 2015 and is gearing up to release its third album “The Eternal Sleep” very soon.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
My most recent release was my album A Matter Of Time released November of 2019. An album filled with a wide range of musical influences with something for everyone on it. It received great reviews in well-respected media outlets like Canadian Beats, Spill Magazine, Great Dark Wonder, and others. My single “Firefly” off the album earned a nomination for Best Rock Performance by the 2020 I.P.M.A.’s
You’re set to play Gussapolooza in Cookstown, Ontario through the weekend of September 15-17. Give us a hint of what attendees can expect from your performance.
I’m excited to be performing some brand new material off my upcoming album “The Eternal Sleep” and perhaps also going to be throwing in a yet-to-be-recorded really New Song. It’s definitely going to be a great one
If you could recommend only one song of your songs for attendees to check out before the festival, which would you choose?
I would recommend my song “Dreams” from my debut album The Freedom Sessions. This song is one that I always close my shows with, and that everyone loves. It really sums up what Black Suit Devil is all about. Heart, Passion, and Soul. It gets people every time
With an amazing lineup, who are you excited to check out at the festival?
There really are so many great artists this year. I’m really looking forward to a few of them. The Lookout Service, Big Foot’s Hand, One In The Chamber, Zack Elliott, Shoemaker Levee, Wilson and The Castaways, Ashley Gilmore, and Cassie Noble to name a few… But really I’m checking them all out.
Let’s talk FOOD, what is one food or beverage that you have to ALWAYS have when you’re playing a festival?
My go-to at a festival is the classic poutine. Always a good choice.
Do you have any other shows or festivals coming up that you’d like to tell us about?
