Zach’s Picks of the Week – April 3 to April 8, 2023

Find out Zach’s five picks of the week from Canadian Beats Media

Boom! It looks like Music Monday has arrived, and it brings some new music with it. These are Zach’s Picks Of The Week on Canadian Beats Media. The show and program showcase some of the articles posted on our website. You can find the links to these respectable posts in this article. On our show, I like to feature a clip from each song in the attached video. It gives you a little taste of each of them and possibly entices you to listen to the songs in the article. So what do you say we get right into the branding music that’s coming out on this website? It’s time for Zach’s Picks Of The Week, everyone, kicking it off with number five!

Five

Let’s begin with the Toronto-based punk rock band, known for playing anthemic, emotional, and rustic punk songs. It’s Back Alley Gospel, and they have unveiled their debut single, “Northbound,” from their upcoming EP, Hold Up Your Head, set for release later this year. “Northbound” is available across several streaming sites. It serves as a wonderful introduction to the band’s fast-paced punk-rock songs that they’re known for by fans. We reviewed the single in our article, where you can find a quick interview with Back Alley Gospel here

Four

Next in our brilliant new Canadian music list is the cinematic rock band 5th PROJEKT, who’s unveiled their four-song EP, The Wolf, to all streaming services. This is only the first of a trilogy of EPs; The Wolf (Out Now), The Owl (2024), and The Bee (TBA). Their latest record, The Wolf, features two previous singles and two brand-new songs. “The Pace” is the last song on this EP, but it’s also the longest, at over 8 minutes. Overall, The Wolf is a neatly wrapped package of high-energy, experimental, yet polished rock music which can appeal to fans of various genres. Please go and check out our review of the EP here.

Three

We have made it to the top three for this week’s list: Ottawa-based artist Victa. He’s got a new single called “Where Did You Go?” a song about love, loss, and heartbreak. He’s loved and lost before and isn’t ready to let another one get away. Victa is working with video producer Francis Klan’ Chleepy’ and Unknwnroz. They helped him develop the sexy, steamy, and provocative storyline in this new video. However, this up-and-coming singer-songwriter is honing his craft together, and “Where Did You Go?” is the next step in his journey. You can follow his path and watch the video for “Where Did You Go?” in our article for Victa’s latest single here

Two

We’ve made it to the second to the last recommendation for this week’s list. That spot is Toronto-based singer/songwriter Dany Horovitz and his newest single, “Don’t Look To Me.” Some breakups are mutual, some crush you, and some have you wishing the other would go away as fast as possible. The last kind inspired the latest single, the first song on Horovitz’s upcoming album, Phanerorhyme, which of course, you can listen to it in our new article, plus read our interview with Dany Horovitz here

One

Then only one could rule them all, at least for this week’s list of new Canadian music. The last and final spot goes to Surrey, BC’s Tyler Joe Miller and his new official music video for “Back To Drinkin’ Whiskey.” The single was released last month via MDM Recordings Inc. / Universal Music Canada, but the video just came out. The incredible Ryan Nolan directed it, and throughout the video, you see Miller returning to old vices at a bar while reminiscing on moments from love lost. Enjoy the new video and see Tyler’s upcoming tour dates that have been announced here
