5th Projekt

Band: 5th PROJEKT
EP: The Wolf
Release Date: March 7, 2023
Genre: Rock

Toronto, ON-based cinematic rock band 5th PROJEKT has unveiled their four-song EP, The Wolf, which is the first of a trilogy of EPs; The Wolf, The Owl (2024), and The Bee (TBA). The Wolf features two previous singles, “Vagabond” and “The Wrong Way,” along with two additional tracks.

Opening the release, “Autopilot Disengage” begins with someone speaking over a loudspeaker before launching into the first verse, featuring vocalist Tara Rice’s dreamy vocals. The chorus elevates the beat, and Tara’s soaring powerful vocals entrance the listener as she belts, “And at the end of the day, it’s all in your mind, And still you are not satisfied, The way will strip away your ways, Autopilot disengage.

“The Pace” comes in at over 8 minutes and begins with an intro that exceeds the 2-minute mark. Once the vocals reach the forefront, we’re treated to another side of Tara’s vocal talents, a more robust and expressive side. The beat stays intense throughout the 8-minute ride that 5th PROJEKT takes us on, thanks to Sködt McNalty, and his way of layering various levels of instrumentation, creating an experimental sound that leaves us wondering what they will come up with next.

Overall, The Wolf ties up a neatly wrapped package of high-energy, experimental, yet polished rock, which will appeal to fans of various genres. As stated above, two EPs are to follow in this trilogy, which they are calling Ultreya! and is inspired by their 40-day pilgrimage under the Milky Way of The Camino Santiago de Compostela, formerly known as The Way of The Goddess, or simply, The Way.

Stay tuned for more from 5th PROJEKT and continue the journey with them.
