New Queer Music Festival, lavender wild to kick off Pride Month in Toronto
Live Nation Canada has unveiled the lineup for lavender wild, a one-day music and arts festival coming to RBC Echo Beach Sunday, June 4. Taking place the first weekend of Pride Month, the outdoor music event will host an eclectic 2SLGBTQ+ lineup across two stages, with Norwegian singer-songwriter girl in red as the headlining act.
General Admission and VIP tickets will go on sale at 10 am EST. Tickets will be available at lavenderwildfest.com.
Of all the shades of purple, lavender is most associated with the 2SLGBTQ+ community, a historical symbol of resistance and empowerment. lavender wild was founded by Alex Simpson, Festival Manager at Live Nation Canada, who wanted to build an inclusive space for her community to listen to live music together, create connections and amplify marginalized voices. In a time when queer spaces have never been more in demand, the festival will provide a safe and interactive place for fans of all ages to enjoy musical performances, drag shows, food, and local artistry.
lavender wild is dedicated to creating a festival environment championed by and for queer people, hiring members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community to help support various projects across the event, including videographers, photographers, muralists, musicians, performers, business owners, and market vendors. A portion of ticket sales will benefit Canadian non-profit, The Get Real Movement – a charity that works to combat 2SLGBTQ+ discrimination in schools and workplaces through community-led education.
