The Damn Truth, Harm & Ease
March 3rd, 2023
Corona Theater, Montreal QC

Last night, hometown rockers The Damn Truth brought a powerhouse set to a sold-out Corona Theater!

Breakthrough group of the year Juno-nominees Harm & Ease opened the evening. The Burlington band is led by Ryan Whalen, the lead singer who struts around the stage in a way that reminds us of Pete Doherty and Julian Casablancas. Harm & Ease did a great job of warming up the crowd with their set, punctuating with a lively cover of My Chemical Romance’s Teenagers.

Shortly after 9pm, The Damn Truth emerged on stage, the smell of incense strong in the room as Lee-La (guitar and lead vocals), Tom (lead guitar and vocals), PY (bass and vocals) and Dave (drums and vocals) pranced around the stage in a moody dark light. A couple hits on the drums, and few strobes of light, and the rock and roll show is ready to start. Just like the last time we caught them live, and every time before that, The Damn Truth absolutely obliterated the stage. In their own way, each member commands their space and gets their moment to shine, and they all come together with undeniable chemistry. From Lee-La’s incredible vocals and hypnotizing charm, to PY’s true rock antics, Tom’s sick guitar riffs and Dave’s Dave Grohl-like energy, we were watching the perfect ensemble. Watching them in the intimacy of Corona Theater truly felt like a treat, but we cannot wait to watch them get the success they absolutely deserve, as they have the talent to fill out bigger venues here and around the world!
