OSHEAGA adds The National to its 2023 lineup!
This summer, the OSHEAGA Music and Arts Festival presented by Bell in collaboration with Coors Light will welcome a festival favourite for a triumphant 3rd time: Brooklyn’s own The National will be gracing the OSHEAGA stage, and if past performances by the band are any indication, this will be a very special night for fans.
The group’s unique style of indie Americana coupled with an art rock sensibility, and a particular attention to sonic detail (especially live) has made them one of the most beloved bands in the festival’s history. Making their OSHEAGA debut in 2010, The National managed to create a very intimate setting, drawing fans into a warm and comfortable space where they could really connect with the band (despite being outdoors), and by the time they took the stage here again in 2018, they were already OSHEAGA royalty. A National show can be intense, emotional, and revelatory, but they also have the ability to rock the crowd with big sounds as well – one thing is for sure, they always feed off the crowd, which elevates the performance to extraordinary levels! The Grammy-winning group, whose upcoming album The First Two Pages of Frankenstein (April 28) features collaborations with the likes of Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and Sufjan Stevens, will play the festival on Saturday August 5th. The band’s brand new single, “New Order T-Shirt”, is a nostalgic trip with all the feels we have come to expect from a band of such depth. Hear the new single right here.
The National join headliners, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar, as well as recently announced Aya Nakamura for the festival’s 16th edition taking place between August 4 – 6, on Montreal’s Île Sainte-Hélène for 3 days of excitement, discovery and delight!
