Zach's Picks 56

Zach Coopz is back with Zach’s Pick of the Week

Thank you all for joining us once again for the new music coming out this week. But also, thank you for joining us for part two of last week’s edition of Zach’s Picks Of The Week! The place where you will find some of the best Canadian music. It’s always coming out here on our website, Canadian Beats. So be sure to go and explore the rest of our website, or you can explore my top five recommendations here. The links to each article I have chosen will be in the post below. But you can also enjoy a clip from each of them in this week’s video that should be right here. So without further ado, let’s get right into this incredible list of new Canadian music.

Five

Let’s kick off this list with the return of Howlin’ Circus and his latest single, “Bullet For Your Baby.” That is now available across all platforms via Big Sister Records. But this track explodes with a pistols-at-dawn guitar riff, making way for a fuzz-soaked bass hook over hip-hop-inspired drums. The new single comes from the upcoming follow-up album to Run The Wrong Way, out in late 2023. You better be sure and keep an eye out for the album when it drops, but you can also check out our article to find out more. You can watch the video for “Bullet For Your Baby” by Howlin’ Circus here.

Four

The next recommendation will take us to North Battleford, Saskatchewan-based artist Jackie K. She joins us with her new doo-wop single, “When You Almost Didn’t Love Me,” on all streaming platforms now. The single is an ode to both the beauty and the perils of young love. This sunshine pop tune feels right out of the best nostalgic Canadian beach movie you’ve never seen. This is the first single released from Jackie’s upcoming album, She’s A Story, which is dropping on International Women’s Day this March. So keep an eye out on the eighth, and don’t forget to go and check out our article to learn more about the incredible person that is Jackie K. Check out her new single, “When You Almost Didn’t Love Me” here.

Three

Moving right into our third top spot for this week’s list brings us Toronto-based Belgian producer/artist Alex Lustig, with a collaboration by South Korean R&B artist SUMIN on the track “Neo.” That is available across all streaming sites now. The accompanying music video, filmed in Toronto, features model Natasha Sharabura carrying a glowing orb around the city and basking in its comforting light. The new single comes from Alex’s forthcoming album Fate (B-Sides), which is coming out soon, but you can listen to “Neo” here.

Two

Now that we are in the top two, I think it’s time to introduce Canadian indie-folk artist Cat Clyde to you again. Cat is back to unveil her full-length album Down Rounder on her own Second Prize Records. You can find it on all your favourite streaming platforms, and the newest single, “Everywhere I Go,” is accompanied by a new video. It’s a breathtaking coming-of-age track touching on the realization of letting some things go and holding others close. However, it would be best if you were to go and check out our Five Questions With segment featuring Cat Clyde here.

One

It’s time for my final recommendation of the week coming from Canadian Beats Media. Introducing Vancouver-based five-piece heavy rock band, Sleepcircle and their latest single, “The Knife Awaits.” The new single reminds everyone dealing with mental health struggles that they are in control even when it doesn’t seem like it. Be sure to check out our Five Questions With segment that we recently had with Sleepcircle here.

That will be all of the recommendations that I wanted to share with you today. But do yourself a favour and explore the rest of our website of the best Canadian music around. So much is getting posted daily on our page, but I only show you my top five. Honestly, I guess it’s pretty selfish of me to do that, but would you watch a video with ten recommendations? Probably not, because my attention span is pretty short too. I encourage you to explore and possibly find an old or new favorite. Be sure to spread love and positivity in the world this week. I will see you back here next Music Monday with a whole bunch of new music. This has been my show, Zach’s Picks Of The Week! PEACE, LOVE, AND GOOD MUSIC, EVERYONE!!
