Canadian country artist Sarah Wickett has unveiled her catchy new single, “Good Friends.”

“Good Friends” is a country-rock track that contains a deeper dialogue that compares fake friends with the ones who always have your back.

Racking up an impressive 120K followers across all social media platforms and over 800K career streams, Sarah has captivated country music fans worldwide. She’s also had continuous success on TikTok, reaching almost 12 million views by promoting her music and catering to her South Asian listeners.

“Good Friends” follows previous singles, “Routine“, “Momma’s Boy“, and “Two Feet.” One thing I can say about Sarah, is her songs feel like she’s telling us a story, which I absolutely love in my music.

Listen to “Good Friends” below, and find out more about Sarah Wickett via our mini-interview.

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Absolutely. I grew up in Beaverton, Ontario. When I was younger, I spent a lot of my time hunting, fishing, and watching sunsets. I also had a very musical upbringing and was surrounded by family who shared my passion for music. My small-town roots definitely inspired my songwriting and artists like Shania Twain and Carrie Underwood helped feed my creativity. I moved to Toronto to pursue my music career about 6 years ago. I have been growing and learning ever since.

You have unveiled your new single, “Good Friends”, what can you tell us about the writing process and inspiration behind the single?

I wrote this song with Jesse Slack. We wrote it back in the 2020 lockdown when we probably missed our friends a lot. I have never had a big group of friends, but I’ve always had a couple of best friends whom I spend most of my time with. I’m all about genuine connections and I feel like with a smaller group of friends, having deep and emotional conversations is easier. Having a big group of friends is something I’ve always wanted, but I wanted to write about my experience and how important it is to know there will always be people in your corner.

You have an impressive following on your social media, with over 120k followers over the platforms. How important was it to you to stay connected with your fans throughout the last few years. How did you keep creative with social media?

Thank you! It is extremely important to me that I stay connected to my fans and always keep them engaged. Constantly coming up with original content can definitely be draining but that’s what being a creator is all about. We live for creating new and innovative things. Having fans come up to me when they see me on the street or at a show to tell me my content has impacted them in some way makes it so rewarding.

Which is your favourite social media platform, and why?

That’s hard. It’s definitely a tie between Instagram and TikTok. Instagram was definitely number one for a long time, but TikTok came in and really changed the game. I’ve seen so many fans come to Instagram from TikTok and that’s always really great when they translate over.

What else can we expect from you in 2022?

I will be releasing a couple more songs before the year is over and I am extremely excited to get back on the road. There are so many songs I haven’t played live that I am SO stoked to finally get to play for my fans.
