Canadian country artist Nickola Magnolia is a tattoo artist and shop owner by day but has always had a love affair with music.
Her new album explores this love fully. Produced by Jimmy Bowskill and featuring members of Kathleen Edwards’ band – the new tunes draw distinctly on the country music tradition…with a twist.
Speaking about deciding which of her songs to include on the record, Nickola says,
“There were two songs I was hesitant to include, they’re so personal I felt embarrassed. I wrote them over 10 years ago, so revisiting felt naive. Ultimately I thought: you know what? That’s how I felt at the moment, and that’s the damn truth.”.
She has unveiled a video for her single, “I Love Country Music (More Than I Ever Loved You)”, and we are happy to be premiering it here at Canadian Beats.
Nickola shares,
“Shooting the video for I love country music was such a fun experience, I actually wrote this song based off of a dream I had, so it was always such a visual story for me. Seeing my dream come to life in the video was surreal. I really enjoyed being able to do a bit of acting for the video and we all had a lot of laughs through romantic scenes, but I think we were able to accomplish the dramatic story line of a good ol’ fashion country love song in the end!”
