Ben Sefton has unveiled his new single, “D.W.T.D” (Dancing With The Devil), along with a loop video to accompany the release.
The single advises choosing the high road rather than giving into self-destructive temptations brought on by poor self-esteem, and is about the painful recounting of a love triangle and the ensuing loss of a treasured friendship.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Ben Sefton, I’m a 27-year-old artist who loves to write strange pop songs with a personal, quirky touch.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
I like to kind of mix genres haphazardly and experiment with new musical devices as I push myself to be better and better at the craft of making unique songs. I’m not comfortable staying in one genre, and I like to let my creativity explode as I reach for excellence in my lifetime! I usually ask God for my major songs, and wait either a few days, weeks or months, until it materializes as divine inspiration – like magic putty from the Heavens – and I make sure to imagine the song into existence to the best of my ability.
How have you been keeping creative during the Pandemic?
Honestly, during the pandemic, I found it very difficult to be creative. I wasn’t very creative at all, and was trying not to be depressed, watching Star Trek in my bed with a dead gaze – is this too negative?
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
I was mostly trying to improve my guitar abilities until I fell on my wrist and hurt it. Once that happened I focused more on my drawing skills and trying to learn more and hone them. The song I’d suggest for people to hear is my track “Humans” because it’s one of the only two songs I have released as of yet, and also it perfectly describes my long-felt sense of unorthodoxy in this world – I’m pretty sure I’m human!
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
My favourite Canadian artists right now are Andy Shauf and Daniel Caesar. I love Andy’s simple, magical songwriting, and I love to be inspired by it! I love Daniel’s smooth voice and unique style.
