Montreal, QC-based rapper, ANDRRE surprises fans by presenting his entirely new indie-folk project with a first single entitled “Parasites”.
In this beautiful folk song, the versatile songwriter pays tribute to all these demons who share his life. These parasites that have worked their way inside his body and head and continually struggle to take over control. The song “Parasites” is a moving ballad in the form of an exorcism that will certainly resonate with everyone who struggles with their inner demons.
The EP Lac Noir is set to be released on May 13th via X-Ray Production, an independent music label in Paris (L’Entourloop, Manudigital, La Yegros, Asian Dub Foundation).

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is ANDRRE, I am a rapper-singer-songwriter from Québec.
I am not completely sure I am a 100% human and I try very hard to understand human feelings and use them correctly. Music is my favorite way to communicate with people, so I write songs to tell my story.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
My most recent release, Lac Noir, is a deep dive into my youth. Some beautiful years in the countryside where the Lake « Noir » was my back yard. I have mixed feelings about this place because my mother died of a car crash there too. So, it was long and hard journey to go back there and revisit the free child I was and the troubled adult I became in a split second. This is the beginning of the journey. Trying to make peace with my past. Classic storyline.
When it comes to the global pandemic, how are you keeping yourself out in the public eye while not being able to perform?
I must admit I am some sort of a hermit with or without a pandemic outside.
But I took those strange pandemic years to work on new music and share a bunch of improvised songs on Instagram though the process. Just me and my guitar, nothing fancy. It was greatly received because I think this is what people needed (me included), a peaceful moment where music guides you to a better a place.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so if you were able to work with ONE fellow Canadian artist, alive or dead, who would you choose?
I must admit I am a HUGE The Weeknd fan since day one. This collaboration would be kind of weird, but I admire this artist a lot.
