Vancouver, BC-based duo, Young Bombs has teamed up with Los Angeles singer-songwriter, Jordy on their latest single, “Summer in Brooklyn”, the first released on the major label, Sony Music. Paying homage to New York City’s most lively borough, full of outgoing people and rich in culture. With that in mind, Young Bombs and JORDY deliver the hottest summer bop anthem. From the catchy chorus, powerful EDM buildup, and lyrics that illustrate the fun of being in a big city, the feel-good track makes you want to get up and dance the night away.
The duo, made up of Martin and Tristan have amassed nearly 100 million streams in four years, and cooked up 45 remixes by 2018. They have also lent their talents to everyone from Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez to Billie Eilish and Post Malone.
Tristan explains, “We’d been working on our project all along, but we finally got the sound to the point where we felt like we could make a statement. We were able to make something that spoke to us lyrically, melodically, and emotionally.” Even with the new change, their musical trajectory has only skyrocketed and with their new song, it’s clear that the sound that they have been searching for has been found.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
We are an electronic music duo from Canada with long hair and chiseled glutes. We love good vibes, high fives and anything with guacamole on it. We have been making music together for several years covering everything from indie rock and jingles to dance music. We have two dogs (Oggie and Twizzle) and a reputation for triggering people.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
Having come from a musical background and being multi-instrumentalists as well as producers, it’s always a changing process. One of us might have an initial idea first and then try to sell it to the other or vice versa. Also, from being in the same room so much together, we might have the same idea, which is actually a pretty common occurrence. We both have an affinity for sugary hooks and big melodic chord progressions. Once we have an idea down, we will go back forth on the track until we get it right.
How have you been keeping creative during the Pandemic?
Although the pandemic has been an absolute tragedy, there’s been some silver lining. We have had more time to spend with family and friends (when safe of course) and pick up new hobbies like motocross, fitness, meditation, etc. It’s been a nice reset and it’s definitely added some more out-of-the-norm experiences for us as we are typically traveling on weekends. We are itching to get back to it now!
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
This is VERY tough question as it’s like asking which one of your kids you love more lol. We might have to roll with ‘Better Day’.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
There is so much talent coming out of this country right now, it’s insane! In the electronic space alone, you’ve got Rezz, Loud Luxury, Famba, Felix Cartal, Shaun Frank, Adventure Club and the list goes on. Kaytranada is one in particular that stands out. He has such a unique and crazy sound. We’d have to say that Young Bombs are probably the group we’re most excited about. Wait, can we say that?
