Toronto, ON-based indie-rock outfit, Long Range Hustle has just released their first single of 2021 – the electrically charged “Comeback Kid”. The single will definitely build anticipation for the fans as the track is the first to be released from the band’s upcoming full-length album due out later this year.
Each of the five band members had a hand in writing this powerful track that explores the theme of letting someone down when they need you the most.
Comeback Kid starts off slower and more acoustic, then builds with intensity as the drums start pounding and guitars electrify into the chorus. This is a newer approach to songwriting and composing than the band is used to – the folk components took a backseat on this track to make room for a darker and more driven sound. Any person listening to the track could agree that while listening to the song, an exciting energy is building inside them.
Paul Brogee (co-lead vocals, guitars, violin) shares,
“What I love about this recording is the way it sneaks up on you. There’s no big drop, no obvious rock-and-roll production tricks, no section of the song that repeats the same way twice. But after three-and-a-half minutes you realize you can’t remember when you slammed your foot on the gas pedal of your car, trying to keep up with the frenetic anxious energy.”
